Buildings are literally starting to melt all over town. Leo’s worried as those buildings form portals between the world of the living and the world of the dead. Then they come across a woman who’s lost all her memories. She doesn’t even know her own name. But she did cast a spell. And that spell can end the world as we know it. It’s Halloween and the witches have their work cut out for them.

This is a story with a strong concept that’s executed pretty well in quite a short amount of time. Will admit, the characters are quite superficial. But the plot does its best to make up for it. And the atmospheric setting manages to elevate the plot too. Another solid nostalgic read with the Charmed ones.

I've given it 4 stars but it's more of a 3.5. The book pretty much follows the episode formula and I could even tell when the break for commercials could be. The story is decent, though not hugely engrossing. However I decided to up it a star because of the interaction between the main characters, especially Piper, Phoebe and Paige. I absolutely loved it on the show and it feels just as good here in the tie-ins. All the parts where they would banter or joke around were a joy to read and made me want to re-watch Charmed all over again :)

Going to give this book five stars rounded up from 4.5 just because it was meandering in some points but overall, one of the best Charmed tie-in novels I have read.

Maybe it helps that it is also a Halloween set story, and every character gets an important role to play as well as the fact that blurb on the back is at least 95% correct. I also believe this is the last time it will be a season 4 connected story where Cole and Phoebe are still happy.

Bummer :(

Even though there are a few laughs and some snark, the plot is actually very serious in dealing with grief and healing.

We are introduced to C.K. who is still very depressed a year after the death of her fiancé and love of her life, Jace. She is a young witch and even though she has the power to cast a spell, it does border on personal gain trying to bring a loved one back from the dead. There is a more eerie side to this as the spell is in a book that drew itself to C.K. because of her grief and magically appeared in her backpack after leaving a magic shop.

Afraid the owner would believe she stole it, C.K. put it in the dumpster but...it came back. This time, along with a voice in her head telling her she needs to do it to bring her lost love back. All of this right before Halloween, Samhain, All Hallows Eve, All Saints Day, All Souls Day, The Day of The Dead when the veil between the world of the living and the dead will meet.

C.K. says the spell of which she bought all of the correct ingredients without even knowing but Jace doesn't appear. She keeps reading the spell over and over until it becomes a mantra of her lost sanity and has her rocking back and forth until compelled to leave. Her apartment as neat as the head of a pin is soon rocked by an otherworldly force: a wraith.

Piper is ready to have the annual P3 Halloween party and Paige is embracing the witch stereotype to dress up and give out candy to the trick or treaters. Phoebe sees the headline in the paper just as Leo orbs in from seeing the elders and Paige brings everyone into the living room to watch the news: all of this connected together.

Across San Francisco, buildings and statues have been melting. Metal and brick literally melting where this is the third one to happen since October 28th. Leo says that these random locations are actually keys to a portal that separates the world of the living from the world of the dead, but they are being opened on the living side.

Phoebe knows that is bad because it would make more sense for someone from the dead trying to open the portals and be alive again. The others get a hold of Cole and Leo tells Piper to keep her routine normal until they can all find out what is going on. So, Piper heads to P3 but finds police cars and blockades as well as a hole where the west wall of the club use to be.

Piper ends up giving her party pastries she spent all morning baking to the police detective and his men as a gesture of goodwill and is told by Detective Anderson that she can come back and view the damage once they are finished. As Piper is leaving, she sees a young woman in the crowd and their eyes meet. Piper shivers as the young woman is familiar as well as the hopeless look in her eye as if her whole world has come crashing down.

Piper knew that feeling when Prue died.

In their research, Paige, Phoebe and Cole have deduced that it is not a demon but a ghost wanting to destroy all of the portals so that once the dead pass through, they cannot return to the ghost realm.

Meaning a very angry spirit not wanting to move on.

Later with the whole family at P3 doing damage cleanup, Phoebe goes to put the push broom back in the closet and when her hand opens the door, she is met with a very terrible vision. The ghosts trapped in our living world will become angry and attack the living and destroy the world.

The reason she has the vision is because C.K. was hiding on the other side of the door and grabbed it to escape just as Phoebe grabbed the knob. C.K. is in a bad way as she can't even remember her own name as Cole grabs a hold of her to keep her from hitting the floor when she faints trying to escape.

Once Leo heals her back at the manor, C.K. wakes up to reveal that she is behind what happened and tells a very sad backstory which garners her sympathy from everyone including Cole. That is until returning to her apartment and Cole finds that the book she used the spell from is a very powerful one full of evil magic.

The book is using C.K. and her powers to carry out its will of destroying the portals because trapped inside is an evil mage. Using C.K. as a conduit, he twisted her desire to bring Jace back so that he can gain revenge on the one who trapped him in the book's pages: his own twin brother.

Any more information and I would spoil the whole book, so I guess I'll stop there.

Between Worlds doesn't exactly give a happy ending but it does at least provide closure. Even though the book has all of the Charmed Ones, Piper gets to shine on top because she and C.K. connect the most. Phoebe and Paige have had their share of loss, but Piper's nearly turned her into a demon and C.K. has now fallen victim to an evil ghost using her own grief against her.

I highly recommend this book even if you may not be a Charmed fan because it is just that good.

An interesting new concept. Which can be quite tough with that many books and episodes. This one wasn't that bad but for now I take a short break of these books because I am done with the sisters or actually the writing. However I will return soon to read them all!

Tanto éste libro como La imagen en el espejo los leí hace tiempo y me gustaron mucho a pesar de que no son la gran cosa y no están muy bien escritos, pero Charmed es una de mis series favoritas de todos los tiempos asi que fue genial leer estos libros.

This woman CK lost her fiance the year before and he was literally her entire support system and loved her whereas her grandparents didn't really. Cuz they threatened to send her off to an institution because she was magical. Jace was her everything when they met and he didn't treat her different. He loved her as she was. Now he's gone and it's almost Halloween when the barrier is lowered. Her grief she locked away but it is also coming out after she does a spell from a book that followed her home.

Now piper, phoebe, page and their guys have to work together with CK in order to stop the end of the world. Because the grief that she let out along with this guy that was inside of the book who's working through her is having buildings melt in order to open portals

Mileager and Malvolio we're twin brothers 500 years before and Mileager became jealous because he wasn't the oldest. Malvolio locked his brother in the book he created of good spells to try and save him from evil. Now he has gotten free and is taking out the portals in order to stay in this world.

Malvolio stops him but only after CK takes back her grief. I really enjoyed this and it's set around the days of Halloween All Saint's Day and All Soul's Day as well. Gives details of what they are as well. I really was glad to be able to read it with Halloween approaching.

Actually 3.5 stars

A dark magic book latches on to a grieving witch desperate to bring back her dead fiancé, leading to the destruction of the walls between the living and the dead in this Charmed tie-in novel. This is a solid effort by authors Weiss and Wilson. Reading this book is like watching a good episode of Charmed. The plot is still a little underdeveloped, but the characterizations are true to the show. Plus, the authors definitely know the show, since they draw parallels between Piper's grief over losing Prue and C.K.'s grief over losing her fiancé. It's far from perfect, but compared to a lot of the Charmed novels, it's one of the better ones.

Mixed feelings about this one. I was gripped almost the whole way through, I thought the build up and the plot was one of the best but I couldn’t help feeling a bit disappointed by the anti climactic final battle. The sisters barely had any role in it apart from Piper and even then, they were incapable of finishing it off. I know this has to happen sometimes but I just felt it was over too quickly and Malvolio being defeated just seemed really insignificant. Nevertheless, I did enjoy the book as a whole.

I love the plot. I feel as if it had a lot of potential. But I fear that the said potential was not met for me. There was a lot of things that were there that I felt could have been left out and more could have been added to make the story stronger.

I won't spoil the end. But for all the build up, it was quite disappointing for me.

However, it is always an enjoyment reading what other writers have envisioned for the Charmed Ones!

Another Charmed book best suited for a halloween read, since its story enfolds during halloween and the days after. This one read just like an episode, enjoyed it very much! Emotional battles lead to dangerous events, burning down the cities Monuments. The Charmed Ones investigate the cause to look for a solution before the next Monument gets burned down, which could lead to the world ending.

Whew, it's a relief to read one of these where the characters sound and act like themselves. The plot was pretty good too - couldn't turn the pages fast enough. But I found a few things that happened frustrating (nothing too major, mind).

Definitely one of the better Charmed novels. It felt more like the TV show than others and it even acknowledged grief in a great way. Especially the last chapter with them discussing Grams and Prue.

This was a fun little story. A bit disappointed they got some details regarding the sisters' powers wrong. Always nice to read more stories about the charmed ones set in season 4.

I loved the television series of Charmed and when I was in hospital a couple of years ago my parents bought me this book to occupy some of my time.

It was ok- as the two stars suggests. I just didn't like the writing I think. It was a while ago but I remember the gist and thinking that the personalitites felt dull and flat compared to those on the television programme.

Not a bad little book but it could've been better... It captures the speech and feel of the sisters in the living room/kitchen etc musing about everything else non-magical. But I just think it was slow, didn't flow well and was a little choppy. I feel it could've been better but has the episode-that-never-was vibe which is appreciated. Three stars.
