A good starter book on shamanic themes through Norse mythology. However, he seems mostly, if not exclusively, to draw on the work of Snorri and Mircea Eliade, which does limit the scope somewhat.

A very thorough view of the Wyrd, with detailed information about the Viking Sagas. The only truly academic view of this concept that i could find. Excellent.
