Great book: clearly illustrates how this topic (or any topic at all) is so much more complicated than might be thought. "Energy-wise" is very complicated: have to consider where an item comes from in relationship to where it will be used, how it is transported, how it is manufactured, ... and it goes on and on. Very good on how one hobbyist gardner can at least try to do their best. Need to read and re-read. I need to consider buying this book for ongoing review. Same for the Climate wise book.

Here is a WONDERFUL book written by a landscape architect who really knows her stuff. Sue Reed is of the Conway School for Landscape Design heritage and is an ardent believer in using native plants in the home landscape. Sue stresses the importance of house siting, arrival areas, using shade and sun wisely, and effective drainage, that are "elegantly simple, beautifully usable, and environmentally healthy". Plus + she lives in Shelburne, MA. and she's my good friend. Yea! Sue Reed !!!
