Volume 1 of 3 of a collection of spiritual discourses by Shri Atmananda (Krishna Menon, 1883-1959), a living representative of the tradition of Advaita Vedanta and one of the great sages of the modern world. The discourses were recorded during the period of 1950 to 1959 by a trusted disciple. They are short and masterful talks on realizing the Truth through a recognition that our nature is always pure Consciousness.
This is a very helpful volume (actually in three parts, this being the first). It is extremely useful for those studying and practicing Sri Atmananda's Direct Path, which is a nondual tradition based on Vedanta and his own unique path of enquiry (internal and external). This volume was based on notes taken by one of his ardent students, and supplements Atmananda's two writings (Atmadarshan, AtmaNirvritti) which are essential for primary instruction. These volumes also make for excellent contemplation material and fuel for further inquiry.
For those who have been grappling with the complex yet simple ideas presented in "I Am That" by Nisargadatta Maharaj and "Be as You Are" by Ramana Maharshi, this insightful book proves to be helpful.
It skillfully unravels the intricate concepts of non-dualism and self-inquiry, making them more understandable for readers.
Hard to understand concepts are explained and understood in a simpler way provided you have atleast some experience or glimpse of what the author is speaking about.
