Tallest Tree is a beautifully illustrated board book about the redwood forest and its animals. Told in poetic and lyrical text. This a g4eat book to read when exploring nature, trees, or when learning about National Parks.

Nice poem with pretty illustrations. Wish the rhyme scheme was more consistent, rather than changing every page.

The northern California coastline is home to the tallest trees in the world and though they can't be called the oldest trees on the planet, they certainly rank near the top. Of course, these tall and long-living trees are the redwoods that stretch from south of the San Francisco Bay Area, north into southern Oregon. The Sequoia sempervirens, or coast redwoods, grow in a narrow strip along the coast; they only grow about 50 miles inland. The tallest coast redwood known to exist is Hyperion, at 379.1 ft (115.55 m) tall. It is estimated that these trees live about 800-1500 years, with some surviving into the 2,000 year range.
"The Tallest Tree" was recently bought for this reviewer's three-year-old granddaughter and she loved the story and the brightly colored illustrations. Even though she is not reading yet, she enjoyed "reading" the story and counting the birds, trees and butterflies in the back of the book. It was the hit of the day and when a walk in the redwood forest was taken a short while later, the book was discussed at length and the poison oak was avoided.

My son makes me read this book over and over and over. It's really adorable. We live in Northern California so obviously we are redwood tree enthusiasts to begin with so yeah.
