Beautiful photographs of spectacular scenes are appreciated. I also appreciate the information but the text chooses pragmatism over spirit leaving it a little lack-luster. This is a soulful place and while the author references and quotes a few poems and ballads along the way, they are not really used to their best advantage. I also found the VERY tiny font unhelpful. I get it... most readers probably don't actually READ these photo essay books and the text is intended to be secondary to the photos, but the text might be more engaging if it were a bit more accessible. I would especially like the locations of the photos to be easily seen.
A beautifully photographed book that celebrates the people and the country. We spent three weeks in Ireland and hubby had to literally drag me on the plane to return home. This is a great book about a great place!
