Fitzgerald gives a voice to the countless Americans around the country whose freedoms are being violated by the very government that should be protecting them.
DO NOT READ THIS BOOK UNLESS YOU ARE PREPARED TO GET VERY MADE AT WHAT GOVERNMENT DOES IN OUR NAME AND WITH OUR MONEY. Randall Fitzgerald lays out, in detail, example after example of governmental overreach that routinely occurs across this country. At every level. Some of the examples are just over exuberant enforcement, but others are government asserting control because it can. Other examples are a shakedown for money. The worst examples are just plain theft of property because some government body has decided they know how to use your property better than you. Of course, the tax revenue will allegedly go up so that just happens to be another win for them. The author does a good job with enough information that you could do a little research and find out more if you wanted, but it would have been nice to have reference sources especially for the cases that were current at the time of writing. A court case number or news article would have been very helpful. In the end, the book is infuriating because none of this is made up or exaggerated, it is just government being government. Some nameless bureaucrat has descended from high on the holy temple and declared, you the taxpayer, a heretic. You must pay for your "non-compliance".
