This is a collection on essays regarding the plays of the late 19th century, Russian writer Anton Chekhov. It gives a good background to the life and times these stories were written.

The book contains many excellent essays dealing with varied aspects of Chekhov’s literary and theatrical (mostly theatrical) legacy.
