About the author

Carol Ellis is an American author of young adult and children’s fiction. Her first novel, My Secret Admirer, was published in 1989 by Scholastic as part of their popular Point Thriller line.

She went on to write over fifteen novels, including a few titles in the Zodiac Chillers series published by Random House in the mid-1990s, and two titles in The Blair Witch Files series for young adults, published by Bantam between 2000 and 2001.

Absolutely terrified me as a child. I saw the TV episode as well and it's really stuck with me! Of course, it's less scary now, but the feeling it struck in me as a kid remains.

I liked this book because it is a fiction/mystery book. These are becoming one my favorite genres. I recommend anyone to read this book. Even the series. I know I will continue to.

The book was actually about a boy and his bratty little sister. Become hard on the boy and then his father ends up buying a cuckoo clock which the boy end up messing with it. Which leads him to going back in time to relieve his worst days.

It was such a great book. Wasn’t disappointed.

I finished my prior read with one single day left to knock out something GB for my Goosebumps July. So I decided to grab something from the Presents series as they are all around 60 pages.

I’m glad I was able to knock out one more for July. When I looked at the choices, I knew I wanted to go with this one. It’s one of the show’s episodes that sticks out the most to me from memories of watching as a kid. And the 8 pages of color images is a kick of nostalgia too.

Quick, fun, and makes you want to watch the show. A success. Personally a 3/5* for me.

I thought this book was great, and exactly like a 23 minute Goosebumps tv show episode. My childhood in a nutshell - With no commercials! This is “The Cuckoo Clock of Doom” (A title which made Tim Jacobus laugh when he first head it!) from the series Goosebumps Presents: Tv Episode 2! Written by Carol Ellis and based on the book by R.L. Stine. Micheal’s in for a load a problems when his awful sister, Tara the Terrible, acts, well… like herself. She ruins his birthday party. She makes fun of him in front of all his friends.

Then Michael’s father buys an antique cuckoo clock from the store downtown . He tells the kids not to touch it, and Michael sees the perfect opportunity to get back at his bratty sister! He turns the cuckoo’s head backwards. But then, he wakes up on the day of his 12th birthday party… again! What’s next, now that time seems to be heading backwards? Can Michael set things right again, before it’s too late? If you are looking for a dose of 90s nostalgia, read this. Or Goosebumps books. Or, fire up Netflix and check out the show! If anybody asks, tell them I gave you the idea ;)
