Overall, not the most compelling plot, but it has potential, given that it doesn't devolve into a teenager's wet dream (which series from this publisher tend to do).
Our main character randomly gets roped into being a kämpfer. He has absolutely no say in the fact that he's now trapped in a Red vs. Blue death match where the only rule is that something about the kämpfer changes and that the kämpfer HAS to be a girl.
Yep, Natsuru gets a magical sex change every time an enemy kämpfer is around. Yeah, that rule about 'girls only' is only around so that there are more boobs.
On a different note, Natsuru has a crush on Kaede. Kaede seems to have a massive crush on female Natsuru but doesn't seem to have a clue that the two are one in the same. Points for the possible semi-lesbian relationship??? I'm willing to see how this goes...

better than the anime
The anime spends too much time on unnecessary comedy and oversexualized situations that aren’t in the manga. Much prefer it if the anime matched the more serious tone of the manga.

Just got this in the reading copy box.

So far, five modified scene checked, including two semi-nude scene and three casual breast groping. そんなに悪い事じゃないが, こっちの社会は難しい.
Senou Natsuru is chosen to be Kampfer, warrior. In magical girl style, he's chosen by a doll-like mascot character, although not so cute (evil looking cat performing seppuku). Like magical girl, right ? Because Natsuru is a male, thus to fit in the rule, he's changed to female. Done.
Kampfer are made to fight with each others and can transform. During that transformation, they get physical strength as well as weapon. Natsuru have Zauber (magic, fire based) and her first opponent and later team mate, Akane has Geffea (gun). The other type, Schwertz (sword) is used by their opponent from the enemy side.
Maybe because of the way I'm reading it, the story pace felt a bit difficult to follow. Sometime fast, then suddenly cut to the next scene. Plot, I'll follow it for now because the novel is already more than 10 books.
Just, I hope Natsuru is coupled with Akane instead of Kaede. I think both the normal and Kampfer Akane strikes a nice balance for Natsuru. (^ー^)
By the way, comparing this with Mondlicht 2, drawn by the same artist, which I read this morning, this one is far tamer in the fan service department. :D

Absolutely hilarious gender bender. Plot is par manga, but still interesting enough to be readable.
