What was supposed to be a peaceful discourse on the state of the Nabari world descends into chaos as the students of Alya Academy throw themselves headlong into an attack against the very shinobi they invited to their school. Their purpose? To fulfill the grisly requirements of the cure-all forbidden art, Daya, to revive the beloved leader of Kouga village! As Miharu's for ...more

This volume covers the end of the Alya Academy arc. I wasn't super excited about it but that's because I watched the anime and at this point I'm just sitting on my hands waiting for the manga to get to new material. Objectively it's pretty action packed, I think someone new to the story would enjoy it. Plus the twists and betrayals are clearly written enough that I could keep up with who was doing what and why fairly easily (unlike another constantly flipping character I could name, Tarvek). Even after reading 7 volumes, midway through this 14 volumes series, I'm still not all that invested in the story. The characters haven't managed to draw me in, and being a character-person, it doesn't matter if the plot is any good. If I don't care for the characters, then the story is moot. I suppose I'm just like Miharu. He's apathetic. So am I. About Nabari No Ou.

But...I suppose I'll eventually finish this series up once my library acquires the rest of it. Until then, off to read something m

Loving this more and more as I read on. It's - the interesting thing is that in the beginning, you think you know where this is going to go, but by the end of volume two it already veers from the usual path and now - the final goal and the relationships keep shifting, but in a way that's believable and tugs at your heartstrings. The only thing I am not one hundred percent sure about is the overall pacing, but I will determine that once I've read all of it. But it's definitely a series worth chec ...more

I'm glad that the plot is continuously moving without it ever feeling rushed (especially since this is all taking place in around two months, maybe less), but in certain ways, this volume seemed to drag a bit for me; I think I was just growing tired of all the events occurring with Kouga though. Anyway, love the plot twist with Kouichi.

I had some "WTF is happening moments, some moments made me smirk and in general this volume was well paced, action-packed and had some dark twists in store.
I liked how similarities between Miharu and Yoite were pointed out and how dealing with Yoite's fate makes Miharu more human, bit by bit.

Also Koichi Aizawa... I'm getting closer to reealing your secret. WTF, man.

This series continues to be pretty okay - I enjoy it but know it's not actually doing anything all that interesting or different. But I gotta admit - for the first time in this volume, some things happened that actually made me go "wait, what?" and in a good way. A way that means I want to know more about what I'm seeing. Kudos to that :)

I'd never read something quite so deep or complex before this manga. I'm still delighted, as the story winds deeper and deeper.
