Trace had a history with Drew, one that involved some hot sex and broken promises. And now, after not seeing him for years, Drew and his crew suddenly show up on a planet Trace has been contracted to protect, a planet where Drew is set to drill for water.
Trace doesn't have a choice. He has to defend the water supply. His men are waiting for their leader to give the order to kill, but he can't bring himself to do that. I would have bought this book regardless of the authors involved. The idea behind it ~ fighting ebook piracy ~ is enough for me to buy the book. Add to that, the authors are all among my favourites and auto-buys, you better believe I bought and own Stealing My Heart !
And many thanks and huge kudos to AACT ; these authors put their hearts and souls into this with one aim and I'm with them all the way!

* * * * * *

* Carol Lynne - Stolen Memories : Review: While different from the books of Carol Lynne's that I've read to date ~ I'm horribly backlogged ~ I was quickly entranced by her story. Aden and Victor are men, or man and vampire, that I quickly found myself attracted to and really enjoyed watching as their relationship developed. Some interesting elements added a bit of an exotic touch to the experience.

* A.J. Llewellyn and D.J. Manly - Stealing Rain : Review: Another story by two favourite authors ~ A.J. Llewellyn and D.J. Manly ~ that was a departure from other stories that I've read by them writing individually as well as together... but I really like what they did. Drew and Trace were sizzling and I loved as they were able to work through their differences. And then there is the whole idea of water being an extraordinary resource; I couldn't help comparing it to the common theme of the anthology. Often people look at books and stories as just another source of entertainment, a means to spend some time. But stories are more, a LOT more, than that to the authors; they are their hearts and sweat, dreams and frustrations, and I loved the way that A.J. and D.J. made the correlation with such a great story.

* Jaime Samms - Hotwired Heart : Review: Jaime Samms' stories are very much among my favourites and with Hotwired Heart she's once again illustrated just why I love them so much. While I wasn't sure at the beginning just where she was headed, I knew that everything would become clear as the story progressed... and I was right. Not only did I get what exactly Marky was fighting, but I really felt for him, for his struggles and his successes. But, like most other things in life, while wanting to do it for ourselves, we often need the support of others. I fell in love with Marky and Rollie... and I'm hoping that this will not be the last we hear of them or of Rollie's club and some of the people there. What a world to explore!

* Serena Yates - The Magic Thieves : Review: Just when I thought that I had figured everything out, along comes this treasure from Serena Yates, another author whose stories have touched my heart. While futuristic sci-fi isn't really high on my list of favourite sub-genres, there's something so wonderfully basic and elemental (pun intended) about Elryk and Kaythan. I found the tale to be well-developed and quite entrancing. Again, a wonderful illustration for the theme of this anthology.

* Jambrea Jo Jones - Stealing Michael : Review: Robert is a character that I could really feel for and Michael was just plain great. Michael was a man committed to being the best person he could be, even when acting completely against all his instincts. In many ways this entry in the Stealing My Heart anthology is a modern fairy tale. A talented author, Jambrea Jo Jones has come up with a wonderful story that again makes a graphic point towards the theme. Very nice.

* Stephani Hecht - Dragon's Eye : Review: This is the only story by an author who is still new-to-me. I've read a story that she collaborated on with another author writing in this anthology and really liked it. But now I'm definitely going to be doing some searching for her solo works... that's one thing that I like so much about anthologies. And again, I'm hoping that there will be more to come in tales from this world of mages and dragon shifters... what's not to like?!

I'm not sure if I maybe had been reading some totally different book, but mine didn't work for me it all. I normally rather like Carol Lynne's stories, but this one was not good :/ Full of bad vampire cliches and group sex at the end. Then I started the second story by my favorite DJ Manly and AJ Llewellyn and it started out good, but later on turned into some multi-partner sex scene and I gave up.
Maybe another time.

This is an amazing collection of stories, and even though one of them is mine (and I don't want to rate that), I still think this anthology as a whole deserves five stars.

"Stolen Memories" by Carol Lynne [2 stars:]: Like many of Carol Lynne's fics, there just seemed to be too much in this short, too many characters and too many tie-ins, for anything to real sink in or have an affect. The main character is a writer who is abused by his boyfriend but then saved by a vampire who has [basically:] been stalking and lusting after him his whole life. Then there's the vampire's best friend, the vampire's best friend's 'Papi' [who is a brawny human cop:], and all of them have no problems with sharing each other in bed. Then there comes the main chara's genetic history and ... well, it was just too overwhelming and didn't capture my interest even in the midst of what could have been a great read if only a few things could have been left out.

"Stealing Rain" by DJ Manly and AJ Llewellyn [3 stars:]: From vampires to space-men ... "Stealing Rain" is about two men who used to be lovers but fell apart when one took the military track and the other took the merc way of life. Water is an extremely rare commodity which is an interesting twist, and the history the men have with water and rain in specific is romantic and sweet. But the action was pushed forward by jealous 'friends-with-benefits' who turns a bit psychotic as the story moves on, and both men are kept prisoner and border-line sexually abused by the other [despite the fact that they still love each other??:]. Again, great idea to begin with but not so much in the execution.

"Hotwired Heart" by Jaime Samms [5 stars:]: On first beginning this short story I wasn't sure I'd like it; started out with a theft, murder, shady relationships and a casual look on sex with strangers that I'm just not fond of. Sticking with it though, I'm happy to say it fleshed out and became one of the most charming stories I've read. Mark is a genuinely good guy stuck in the wrong circumstances, with a sense of duty and loyalty that aren't seen in too many people. The willingness he showed in accepting Rolly's kindness and help - tempered by the insistence he held to make it on his own instead, build his own life from the scraps, is admirable. And yet his fondness an love for Rolly - shown more in actions than words, especially regarding the leather cuffs. I'll definitely be looking for more from this writer.

"The Magic Theives" by Serena Yates [3 stars:]: Very unique, and very creative. The relationship/pairing seemed a bit rough and rushed, as did everything really. I can't help but thinkit was condensed too much and came out only half as good as it would have been, should the story have been allowed to tell itself without the boundaries of word or page limits. If it's ever re-written, fleshed out, and turned novel-length, I was soooo read it again and with pleasure.

"Stealing Michael" by Jambrea Jo Jones [4 stars:]: Definitely enjoyed this one. It was so drastically different than what I expected; still, I would have wished that Robert didn't seem so 'simple-minded' especially in the beginning, and there were a few parts that just didn't make much sense. Robert would have had a crappy job, no place to go, no way to get there, and yet he managed to get his own apartment and live separately from Michael for two whole years? Seemed like a far stretch for me, but I would have been interested to see how the author explained that happened.

"Dragon's Eye" by Stephanie Hecht [3.5 stars:]: I kept getting a bit turned around in the formation of these characters, which I've noticed happens often with the Stephani Hecht novels I read. I kept thinking of Duncan as the smaller one, possibly the meeker character, and when it turned out to be the sorcerer Trent I was kind of taken off-guard. The rest of it, happily, was great quality. The story is intriguing if not completely original, the conflict between Trent and Duncan's family is honest and believable, and the resolution, while tidy, was alright. There WAS a great deal of schmex and I kind of felt like in the end Trent and Duncan's relationship just hadn't emotionally progressed like it could have.

THE RATINGS ARE ONLY FOR JAIME SAMMS'S AND STEPHANI HECHT'S STORY

Hotwired Hearts by Jaime Samms
Awww, I love Jaime Samms's stories. I love how she could write so many things in a short story without cramp it out. This story starts out in Marky stealing car and ending up in Rolly stealing his heart. It's a beautiful story -- a touch of D/s too (but not hardcore, but does involve handcuffs) and I love the two guys.

Dragon's Eye by Stephani Hecht
Ms. Hecht has become one of my favorite authors. In here, she writes about a dragon shifter and a sorcerer. I thought both guys are so endearing (especially Trent, the sorcerer). I enjoy the idea of dragon's eye as a source of power. Lovely, lovely story.

Finished! Sorry, but I have just two good things to say: First, I'm glad I got it with a discount and second, now it's off my TBR. This book might be for someone liking vampire, sci-fi and what-have-you all thrown in together, but not one story really got my interest. The nicest of the bunch was Stealing Michael.
