Rate this book
With past experience as a drug runner, a madam, a money launderer, and a drug dealer—among other things—Andrea Mohr's résumé is an eye-opening read. All the while she lived a glamorous life filled with travel, movie stars, and easy money. But the dark side of drugs and addiction eventually saw her sentenced to seven years in jail for importing seven kilograms of narcotics to Australia. Andrea was sent to Deer Park, a violent, corrupt, mismanaged facility where there were more drugs inside than outside, and where her fellow inmates nicknamed her Pixie. In this no-holds-barred memoir, Andrea relives her involvement in drug smuggling that took her to exotic locations around the world and offers a rare insight into a criminal world few know. It’s a frank and shockingly truthful account of a life filled with dizzying highs and terrible consequences.

Honest, easy to read, blows the top off what really happens in the womans prisons in Victoria and the desperate need for changes.

Written from the heart it can't help but touch the reader, even if you have never had any of her life experiences it has a way of making you feel connected to the people in her life story.

A woman who regrets nothing and has learn't from life and now shares her story in the hope of helping others. I highly recommend it to to anyone insterested in true crime, our australian prison system or just a really good and interesting autobigraphy from someone who has walked on the wild side and lived to tell the story

I found it interesting to find out about life in a woman's prison in Australia known as Deer Park. Andrea Mohr describes her experiences while in prison and the characters she meets during her imprisonment. She eventually works as a peer prisoner to assist newbies integrate into the system and towards improving conditions there. Conditions were not quite as harsh as I would have expected them to be, but prisoners with psychological problems cannot get any help and drug addicts have to go cold turkey, although drugs are not entirely inaccessible in the prison environment. A fascinating read which gives good insight into the workings of prisons in Australia.
