Magic: The Gathering -- Official Strategy Guide: The Color-Illustrated Guide to Winning Play

Rate this book
Although the game is as easy to learn as chess, The Gathering does contain over 2,000 playing pieces, making good game plan and knowledge of the rules essential. This strategy guide provides information on all issues of the game, including clarification of the complex timing sequence, description of the fine art of deck design, and explanations of complicated Magic jargon. 300 color illustrations.

A solid primer on playing and deckbuilding for MtG. As someone new to the game I can say that the book remains relevant today, but much if not all of its lessons can be found online in tutorials and videos. Still a good read for someone completely new to MtG.

I'm brand new to Magic: the Gathering. I've found this book to be really helpful for learning basic deck strategies, and for learning about the classic cards of the game. Although the rules are out of date (see their website for up to date rules) I think this book is really valuable for beginning Magic players. Recommended.
