Praise for Vegetables, Herbs and Fruit , by Matthew Biggs and "Solid gardening tips and tempting recipes ... enough to teach even experienced gardeners new tricks." -- American Reference Books Annual In this encyclopedic guide, master gardener Matthew Biggs shows home gardeners how to grow a broad range of vegetables, from the traditional and most popular to the unusual and rare. In addition, celebrated chef Jean-Christophe Novelli provides delicious recipes that use the abundant harvest. This all-in-one resource
Another great gardening guide that I feel like I'll have to buy to have nearby when doing vegetables. Seperation into the different vegetables is really the best way to organize books like this one, and Biggs does just that. I found the information included really interesting; history, recipes, companion planting, etc for each vegetable, and some interesting vegetables as well.
Really helpful information included in this book. It gets pretty detailed and is obviously for a higher-class gardener than I, but it easy to pick out the information you need or want, since each vegetable is sectioned off and it has great sub-headings leading the reader to each stage of the crop.
At the end there is general gardening tips and how-to's which I enjoyed and found really helpful as well, especially the bits on crop rotation. A really nice guide to have around, and one that is quite pretty as well. I'll return to it again in the next stages of my garden, for sure.
