As a powerful billionaire, I have everything I want, except for my brother’s fiancé. It was one night. A taste that left me craving more… until I learned who she was. The truth shattered my perfectly organized life. The guilt tore at me, as my forbidden obsession for her grew. Then I learned it was all a lie. A fake engagement.
Now I’m going to make her pay for every sleepless, tortured night that left me wanting her. I will blackmail her into becoming my assistant. She will be at my beck and call, forced to obey my every command or face the consequences. I was denied her body, but I will not be denied my revenge. She thinks her mistake was getting pregnant after our one night together. Her real mistake was crossing me.

First thing I want to mention is the fact that I was super happy to find out the FMC is half-Persian (my Persian self would like to thank R.G Angel for this). That and the fact there were some terms of endearment used really made my day since this is such a rare representation. The only other one I can think of is Damon from 'Conclave' had Persian ancestry as well.
Probably not everyone’s favorite trope but surprise pregnancy is one of mine. Ava and Hugo meet by chance at a nightclub and hit it off quickly and end up having a ONS. They both lie about their names, and he even uses an American accent.
Ava (loved her) has been best friends with Ethan for years and they are now pretending to be engaged for a specific reason. Ethan and Hugo are connected. How? Well, they are half-brothers who have had no relationship since they were kids. They barely speak or care for one another. Ethan never even mentions he has a brother so imagine Ava's surprise when the ONS she had is his brother lol
''I'm underserving of your tears, Ava''
Hugo was just MEAN and honestly, I loved the asshole vibes he was giving because in his POV he knows he is and he judges himself for it. He was OTT and massively jealous. His grovel was spot on....he was a flawed guy and he knew it. He lacked a lot of things he needed to navigate his relationship with Ava, and he messed up over and over until he finally got it right.
''Ava, nafasam, ask me again'' < The screamed I wanted to yell out when he called her ''his breath'' in Farsi.
This book was just overall fun. There was a lot of angst and trust issues between everyone and the road to their HEA was a hell of a ride, but you'll be smiling when you read the epilogue!
I was so excited for this book 😭😭😬 I like one night stand books and surprise pregnancy. And i liked ruthless warrior by this author so i figured id try this one
This was a grungy, soupy, cringy mess 😔
They meet up for a ons and he tells her that his name is Colton and speaks with a American accent. She tells him a fake name too. They eff (f*ck) without a condom. On a one night stand. Because she's on birth control. And he has trust issues throughout the book but apparently not when it comes to a girl that might trap him for his millions and millions of dollars. 🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔🤦 okur dokur.
Then he gets a blowie job from his mistress without a condom too. Granted, he couldn't get hard without thinking of Ava but he still gets serviced by his mistress hoe. She's getting clingy so at that moment he tells her that hes done with her and that he'll send her enough money to cover her rent. A severance package for smexxx mistresses if you will 😂😂
Later on, she goes with her gay bf Ethan to their engagemnt party since they're lying about being together and she sees Colton who is really named Hugo and half bro to ethan. He finds out about the baby and asks her if she's going to abort it. And offers to pay for it 😬😬😬😬🤦 he makes her sign papers that states her and the baby will never get any moeny, property etc from him 😳😐if he'd just wrapped it up.....
im not going to simmarize the whole book but he kinda blackmails her to work for him and hes a dickhead the whole time. He takes her to a dinner to try to get some dude named hastings to inevst with him and he gets the money by getting ava to go out to an opera thing with hastings. 😬😬😬 it just felt like he was whoring her out to get his money ugh.
He sees an ex gf/fuck buddy at the opera (he went to keep an eye on ava) and he invites her to dinner at his place 😬 he tells Ava to come over to his penthuse and she sees the dinner for two and thinks its for them but then old fuck buddy Cecilia comes over 😂😂😂😐 then he tells ava to work on a project cecilia has. Bruh. She doesn't work for her. Ugh. Nothing happens between the two but....what a dickish move
I actually liked the ending angst when he thinks she's moving away with his half bro. and he got mad about Hastings texting her that he didn't care if she was pregnant and wanted her. But it was such a complete reversal of everything he did for the majority of thr book that I didn't believe it. It was so far fetched 😬
He's such an asshole for most of the book. I hated it

Hero is simply too mean, too cruel, too debasing and an utter snob. Among other issues they have between them is how belittling he is of her social status. It's 2023 buddy.
They have a ONS where they exchange false names, but she's the villain. Okay, in some defense, when they meet shortly after she's pretending to be his half-brother (gay half-brother) fiancee/beard. H is outraged, but it's not because of his brother's heart getting broken. He's almost as bad to him as he is to the heroine.
She ends up working for him, and he's such an utter ass he puts her at risk of losing the baby. Not my kind of hero.
The heroine is a pretty decent character with one obvious exception: the hero.
After this book, my second from RGA, it is evident that her stories are fast becoming auto-buy ones. Her writing style was very energetic and engaging and despite the overall mundane things going on in the plot, I was kept stucked to the book and it was so hard to put it down to get some beauty sleep.
One of the key success elements in this plot is the set of characters. My absolute favourite is the h, Ava. She is total gold. I loved how despite being figuratively hit in the face over and over again by the H's cruel words and callous actions, she rarely backed down and always had some sassy, well-chosen retort to throw in his haughty face. And despite being hurt time and again, she also held hope in her heart and was courageous enough to take 'leaps of faith'. Although she is kindness personified, she also had a thick skin that allowed her to always stand tall, go forward and be resilient in the face of hardship. She really was such a dignified queen.
The H, Hugo (I love that name), was the epitome of arrogant and self-entitled prick who refuses to apologise even when he knows he is wrong. He was a classic example of the trope, if not the Example. Oh my gosh, he has to have a unique mental syndrome whereby his mouth always, always has the most cutting, humiliating and hateful remarks to the h and others. And that despite him cringing inwardly at his assholeness and knowing that he should not have gone so far. It was as if his mouth was so trigger happy that it paid no heed to his mind and his real feelings. Even in his final heartfelt declaration moment, after weeks of trying to woo back Ava (imho he had a too silent strategy about it and has Ethan to thank for his finally opening up completely to her) and fearing he would lose her forever, he still managed to initiallty botch it up through an ego tantrum! But he finally did get his big head out of his arse to really mend things with Ava. Hugo should be thanking his lucky stars that Ava's heart is so huge that she took him back after a book full of unwarranted accusations, verbal abuse and nasty ploys to hurt her (e.g. ).
About the grovel, which is always an important point for me, well, Hugo's method was mainly to show her silently that he cares both by giving her every comfort in her time of need and by slowly opening up to her. Too slowly, because that man never learned to be a human being, but eventually he threw himself into the unknown and left himself totally open to pour his heart to her. And Ava, the golden kind girl that she is, was an easy customer who had only been waiting for some heartfelt sincerity to give him a final chance. To his credits, his efforts and his big declaration (after him almost mucking it! Damn mouth and ego!) read as very sincere. Given who Hugo and Ava were, it was believable and satisfactory. Personally, for me, I would have liked if he had added some tear worthy apology for all the bullshit he threw at her, including the biggest apology for what he had her gone through on that last day before she was hospitalised.
A little note to also laud Ethan's character. He was really funny and cool. Based on the bonus epilogue, I am real happy that the two brothers were able to mend their fences.
If you have never read RGA, she is worth giving a try. My current fav of hers is still Her Ruthless Warrior.

A usually reticent Ava, prompted by her best friend Ethan, decides to have fun and engage in a hot one-night stand with Hugo St-John, but an accident happens. Surprise! She's pregnant, and Hugo just happens to be Ethan's brother.
Hugo is the favored brother of the family, successful businessman, exacting, and broody, and of course, supreme jerk. This author depicts the alpha jerks well. Ava is all that he isn't: not of the same social class, kind, caring and feisty. I liked her personality against Hugo, loved her rapport and protectiveness with Ethan, as well as her resolve in raising an unplanned child. This story contained juicy jealousy with a hint of other man drama, misperception, and passionate clashing between the two main characters.
Progressive pace and dual first-person points of view, it was a largely an entertaining story. It had Harlequin vibes as well as similarities in storyline and character style to another book by this author, and in the latter, it lack a bit of originality and inventiveness. Spice was low (2.5/5) even if the exchanges and sexual tension were heady.
Note for safety girls this book is not safe H got a bj from ow after his ONS with the h, so annoyed I hate stuff like this 😡 also they don’t use protection on their ONS (when he’s in a non-exclusive relationship with the ow) and they don’t use any after the bj 🤢

this one star is only for the idea the author had in mind but miserably failed to implement the mmc was a crybaby , the fmc was the naivest but the hottest Iranian as told by author herself multiple times for no reason also the stereotypical loud exaggerated portrayal of the gay best friend was anything but the cherry on the shit pile that was this book
A little cringy. Some sex scenes, not safe, some descriptive between the hero and ow...yuck,not for me . One night stand, surprise pregnancy, he doesn't want the baby, hero is bff's brother, ass838le millionaire, poor heroine, hea.
At times this kept me turning the pages and at times it bogged down. The angst was dampened… and think that’s because even though the H said some really obnoxious and horrible things to the h I never really saw that he meant them or that they caused her any deep hurt. It was more like oh he’s from the self entitled aristocracy. So Hugo and Ava have a ONS. She soon finds out that he is her pretend fiancee/gay bff’a estranged brother. Hugo calls her a cheating slut and a lot of other demeaning things. Hugo was forced e with his own behavior though cheating on his mistress and getting blowjobs. He leaves the country after threatening Ava and gives her 4 weeks to Tell his brother she’s a cheater. Imagine his surprise when he arrives back and eavesdrops at his brothers office and finds out his brother is gay and Ava is pregnant. This sets him on a tirade to hurt both his brother and Ava by blackmailing and demeaning them anyway he can. This carries on for most of the book until the 80 percent stud happens and he eventually has an about face. The last was a bit long and boring but they live hea.
He’s a dick who slut-shamed her for having a ONS even though he also had a ONS (with her), because ya know, double standards who? Also he was just like EVIL to her and it wasn’t a cute look. Then he has a complete personality reversal and is obsessed with her. It was weird.
4★/5 3🌶/5 ⭑Arc Review⭑ Do something different, have some fun. One night stand. And never see the guy again. That’s all it meant to be. But, as per usual, it didn’t end this way. Ava meets her stranger again, just to find out he’s her best friend’s brother, who is pretending to be her fiance. And finding out she’s pregnant? Let’s just say that wasn’t in her plans… Ava is strong, determined, knowing perfectly what and how she wants it. Sweet and kind. Total opposite to Hugo, who's a cold, practical, calculated asshole, that doesn’t care about others and their feelings. But even him can change, especially being under Ava’s spell, start seeing things from different perspectives, and becoming ‘more human’.
Super fast paced and emotional ride! Super tangled web, lol. At the urging of her best friend and fake fiancé, Ava decides to try something she's never done before, engage in a hot night with a hot stranger. Turns out the hot stranger, Hugo St-John, is her best friend's estranged older brother. Ava is Ethan's beard for his super conservative family, but that doesn't stop tempers from flaring when Hugo believes she 1) stepped out on his brother 2) was the type to step out on a fiancé.
Up front, I wasn't sure if I was really going to love this story when we first get to meet the "real" Hugo St-John, but he completely grew on me and by the time the story ended, I just wholeheartedly enjoyed him for what he is. Hugo is a super snob, asshole, master manipulator... and completely head over heals for his girl, lol. She makes him completely lose his self-control and is super confused by all the "feels" she gives him. Ava is his complete opposite. Sweet, from a different station, but has the backbone to give back all that Hugo dishes out. I would have liked to see a little bit more of a grovel, but the ending still worked for me and I walked away happy. If opposite attracts and accidental pregnancy with a jealous/possessive asshole is your jam, you'll definitely enjoy The Mistake as well!
I usually like this authors books with the exception of another one but I could not stand this one . He is such a dick to her the mother of his child and he does not grovel at all. She just let's everything go and sleeps with him again . I hate when authors make the mfc that way . Authors should make fmc with more back bone and at least make the mmc work for it more . Such a disappointment and I won't be reading more from this author after this one .
I received an ARC from the author and wow! I read all of R.G.'s book but this one is my favorite! I didn't just read it I devored it! Hugo is the archetype of the snob stuck up and she is definitely not. Opposite attracts to its best and accidental pregnancy is a favorite of mine. A must read!
ARC Review of The Mistake by R.G. Angel * * * * * A wildly dramatic and sexually charged read that hits all the right spots with the enemies-to-lovers and surprise-pregnancy tropes! How one night - one lust-filled decision - changed everything.
Ava was not a party girl, wasn't one for drinking and dancing in a nightclub, wasn't one for brazenly going with a stranger to their hotel room...but one stranger changed it all. He was dark and handsome and was undeniably as magnestised to her as she was to him. However, that stranger turned out to be more connected to her than she realised. Her best friend Ethan whisks her away to his family's home under the guise to everyone else that they were engage. It was an arrangement. Nothing more. If that could only be told to Hugo...Ethan's distant half-brother...and Mr. Eight Inch wonder-cock! He calls her a trash gold-digger. He sees her nothing more than all the grabby woman. Even if he detests his brother, he will stop her from being in his life. That all changes when she becomes pregant...with Hugo's child. He's threatened. blackmailed, and promised to make her see that he has all the power and will do anything to stop her from sullying their name. Though, it all begins to change as Hugo becomes jealous of other men who see her beauty, as well as learns of the person she really is. Will it be too late to open up what he has been pushing down, and turn away from all the cruelty his father has taught him?
I am so happy I decided to dive into this book first up. I have several ARCs needing to be read first but this book pulled me to its contents, and I am thrilled to have stayed up into the early hours of the morning reading it. It is so full on with the drama! I am surprised Ava has not slapped Hugo, he deserves a few! Poor Ethan, he is a gem! Cheers to Ava as well on handling the snob crowd. Genius.
I received this free eARC novel from the author and Enticing Journey Book Promotions. This is my honest review.
R. G. Angel is QUICKLY become an auto buy author for me! When I saw the opportunity to read this new novel, I jumped on it and quickly fell in love with these characters and this story! Ava is amazing, I love her trust and helpfulness and just pure spirit that she has - throughout everything life throws at her. Ethan is hilarious but oh so loyal and I hope he gets his happily ever after soon!
Now Hugo. He is a mess, but I love him all the same. He just makes a ton of mistakes - some I didn't think he would be able to crawl back out from to be honest. He definitely dug a ginormous hole throughout this whole time. I loved seeing small moments of him letting his guard down, but those were few and far in between.
This book kept me snared and I read it super fast. I'm a bit sad to see these characters leave, but I know I can always revisit them again if I need to. I can't wait to see what amazing story R. G. Angel comes up with next though, cause I will be sitting here patiently waiting to fly through that amazing story!
Wow this one starts off hot Ava goes out with her friends on her best friends request and has a one night stand. The man is hot and claims to be American leaving in the morning. But that evening she goes with Ethen her fake fiancé to his dad’s birthday and there is the hot guy… not American but Ethan’s older half brother. Things just get worse and more twisty from there. If this were a movie I’d be first in line. There are unique characters. A good plot, a strong heroine, a main character that is how would you describe him but an butthole. A sweet brother there’s so many twists and the story is intriguing. There’s lots of feels too. Great book. Highly recommend!
Lovers to enemies to lovers Fake fiancé Accidental Pregnancy Best friends brother
I really enjoyed this book. Well I shouldn’t say “enjoyed” rather I was pretty pissed for the first half of the book. And not in a bad way. Hugo the MC was the biggest D**k . He was the reason I was pissed . I wanted to crawl through the pages and put him in his place.
Once I started this book I did not want to put it down. For me this was a quick read. Once I started I couldn’t stop. I really enjoyed the story . I even shed a tear . I enjoyed all the characters . Even Hugo grew on me at the end. Such a good read.
This is my first book by R.G. ANGEL and I am a fan. I can not wait to read more from this Author.
What a rush of emotions that these two characters put you through.
Ava is sweet, strong, and just a pure of heart. While Hugo is intense, controlling, and flawed. Together these two balance each other out and make such a great couple once they get past all of their trust issues with each other.
Please note that Ava is forgiving by nature so if you expected Hugo to work for it more then you didn't pay attention. From the beginning Ava fought her feelings for him and once he confessed that he too loved her, she was of course going to give him another chance because she loved him too.
❤One night stand / accidental pregnancy ❤Enemies to lovers ❤Angsty ❤OTT H ❤HEA
I had the opportunity to have this ARC and I enjoyed it from beginning to end. Love the story. The characters were amazing. Hugo was probably my favorite. Strong and emotionally unable finding himself in a situation that he doesn't know what to do with all his emotions coming to the surface. Seeing him understand what's his feelings were. Coming to terms with the reality that he cares so much for someone was awesome to see in the story. I want to thank the author for giving me the opportunity to read this beautiful love story. Will definitely be reading more of her books.
This was my first book y R.G. Angel and all I can say is it will not be my last! All of my expectations for this book was blown out of the water by this author. Hugo and Ava tick all the boxes! Alpha male, sassy heroine, attitude, lust, love and all the drama. The secondary characters were fantastic, especially Ethan and Ben. I really hope there is a book 2! If you're looking for a story you can fall in love with, this is the book for you.
This author never ceases to amaze me with the depth of her characters I freaking loved this book even though I wanted to strangle Hugo for the 1st half. Jesus this man was big D. This was one of those books that will grab you from page one and have you in a choke hold until the very end. Ava was pure gold she was amazing and such a sweetheart she was the light to Hugo’s dark and Ethan oh man don’t even get me started on this diamond of a man. He seriously stole the show for me. Fantastic read.
Best R.G. Angel book yet! This is a steamy rom-com and had me laughing out loud which is rare but also broke my heart. Hugo and Ava are burning the pages with their interactions and the side characters especially Ethan are amazing. I want more of them!
Love this book. Love Hugo and Ava’s romance story. This is my first book I read by this author. I absolutely loved this book. I love reading Brother’s Best Friend/Best Friends Brother romance. This book was no difference. Such an amazing story that drew me in. Worth the read
Hugo and Ava’s story was so good! I love this authors characters she definitely knows how to write a possessive alpha hole male character that you’ll start out hating but has you in love with him by the ending bravo this is another amazing story that is a must read !
R.G has done it again , I loved these guys so hard. Hugo and Ava are EVERYTHING !!!
Hugo has the worst attitude , rich and privileged and set in his ways but even Hugo can’t fight his attraction to our sweet, independent Ava. Ethan was a sweetheart too.
This was such a wonderful book. R.G. never let's me down. I could feel the tension between Hugo and Ava. But when he finally got it, WOW! It was beautiful. This book just tugs at your heart and gives you a few tears. Both happy and sad. Loved it!
Can I start by saying I have never been so frustrated by a book in my life, how my kindle hasn't gone through the window I do not know, RG Angel Hugo has to be the most annoying frustrating man ever !!!! You wrote him brilliantly, my heart hurt for him and yet I still found myself wanting to smack some sense into him at the same time Ava, what a beautiful soul, another wonderfully written character she was the light to Hugos dark. Ethan, well I just want him to be my best friend, he's totally awesome and I did feel immensely sorry for him too at times throughout the book !! Fantastic story wonderful characters brilliantly written, a well deserved 5 star read.
