As expected it was a bit dated. Some horrifying implications from where the book briefly touched on animal, and human, medical experiments.
Interesting to see a textbook published in the 1980's using examples from the 1960's and 70's. Reminded me of the textbooks I used in high school in the 1970's that relied heavily on examples from the depression and world war 2.
Still lots of good information and analysis of physiology, brain functions, medical conditions, and treatments. Lots of insight in how the medical profession began to rely heavily on medications as solutions to what was perceived to be problems.
Lots of dated material about gender identity, sexuality, and how society dealt with perceived differences over the last several decades.
This book was given to me many years ago by a friend who was a psychology professor at University of New Brunswick SJ. I finally decided to pick it up from my to-be-read pile.
