I had about given up on the Patrick Dawlish books until I read this one. It begins wonderfully with an intriguing opining and a page-turning pace that serves the book well when it becomes a series scenes that don’t seem to go anywhere fast in the middle of the book. I was hooked by that point, even while the book slowly became unsatisfying. The plot eventually becomes preposterous, another serious demerit. The pace improves near the end, though, and that helps a lot. While this one certainly has ...more
