When Logan Thorne said goodbye to Tessa Plum, the woman he loved three years ago, he didn’t expect it to be forever.
But, as a guy listed as dead and now on the run from the CIA, he can’t exactly show up in his hometown and restart his life. Unless…unless he disguises himself as Santa, and just…checks in on her. He’ll make sure she’s okay, and then he’ll leave. Really.
Except that brilliant plan doesn’t go according to plan, and suddenly he’s sneaking around small town Minnesota, helping an unknowing Tessa with a project like a Secret Santa.
Secret HOT Santa, according to Tessa. She doesn’t know where the man has come from, but she’ll take his help to create a magical Christmas for their tornado-ravaged town.
But what happens when she discovers that her impossible Christmas wish has come true? Can she let the man she’s never forgotten leave again? Even if it means saving his life?
Is there a resurrection for Logan Thorne?
Read the long-awaited story of the epic homecoming of Logan Thorne.
I can't help be amazed at the gifts God has delighted me with - a wonderful husband, four amazing children, and the opportunity to write for Him.
I've been writing as long as I can remember - I won my first book writing contest in first grade! Over the years, writing has become, for me, a way to praise God and see Him at work in my life.
Although I have a degree in Mass Communications from the University of MN, my real writing experience started when I penned the The Warren Report - a bi-monthly newsletter that detailed our ministry highlights.
Living in Russia meant I never lacked for great material - and those experiences naturally spilled out first into devotionals and magazine articles and finally into my first published story, "Measure of a Man," in the Tyndale/HeartQuest, Chance Encounters of the Heart anthology.
Susan and husbandI grew up in Wayzata, a suburb of Minneapolis, and became an avid camper from an early age. My favorite fir-lined spot is the north shore of Minnesota - it's where I met my husband, honeymooned and dreamed of living. The north woods easily became the foundation for my first series, The Deep Haven series.based on a little tourist town along the shores of Lake Superior. I have to admit - I'm terribly jealous of Mona, the heroine of my first full-length book, Happily Ever After, a Christy Award Finalist published in 2004 with Tyndale/Heartquest.
Our family moved home from the mission field in June 2004 -- and now we live in the beautiful town I'd always dreamed of! God has amazed me anew with His provision, and blessings -- and allowed me a season when I can write full time for Him.
I 'm delighted you've stopped in to visit. My hope is that you'll be blessed and encouraged by soul-stirring stories of regular people interacting with a God who loves them.
I'd love to hear from you! I love getting mail, especially from readers and I welcome your questions and comments. Write to me at susan@susanmaywarren.com. Anyone who has read SMW's books know that her characters may pop up in different books and different series. Logan Thorne makes an appearance in different books, but he pops back into his hometown in this Christmas themed novella. Logan is a former SEAL who was captured by the Taliban during the Afghani war, was rescued, but has been living off the grid for three years. He just wants a visit home at Christmas to see his girl and his mom's grave. See his hometown, torn by tornados two years ago. But he cannot stay. The is a story of miracles, joy, hope, faith, and light in the storms of life. Against all odds. The wonder of the Savior's love. I received a copy as a gift from the author.
Ok, so I knew how the story would end since this novella takes us back in time a bit in the timeline of Susan May Warren's books. But oh the joy, the thrill, and the satisfaction of journeying with Logan back from the dead! I love how the author's books intertwine enough to trigger recognition but not so much that you feel lost without having read the previous books. I did go back and re-read some parts of Summer of the Burning Sky series for that perspective of what happened right before this book and fell in love all over again with the characters (I foresee re-reading of the Sky King Ranch series....).
Logan. Such a mystery until now. And I'm absolutely thrilled that he'll pop into more of the author's books in the future. His steady faithfulness, goodness, kindness, and humility make him a fantastic hero, worthy of Tessa's unending devotion. There is a lot of grief that needs to be overcome but they do so with God's providential guidance.
It's another winner by Susan May Warren! Filled with action, suspense, tender romance, and faith lessons, it's the perfect book to curl up with on a Saturday afternoon. I received the book from the author and was under no obligation to post a positive comment. All opinions are my own.
I’ve been wondering what happened with Logan and now I know. I’m so delighted that Susan May Warren finally gave him his own story. He is a character in many of her other books and he always had a larger-than-life presence. In this story, we find out just how he fights to come back to the land of the living and reconnect with the love of his life. I really enjoyed how this was more of a Christmassy kind of story and it gave the reader a warm and cozy feel. And in true Ms. Warren fashion, we have a bit of drama with a whole lot of beautiful life lessons. Susan May Warren is one of those authors that when I hear she has a new book out I will climb the highest mountain and forge the deepest valley just to get it. Every book I read of hers has filled me with so many thoughts and personal lessons. They are not just words, they are deep, touching, relatable examples, of what God can do in our lives! They flow with wonderful images so vivid that it’s easy to get swept away and believe it’s real. I'm at a loss to have words eloquent enough to convey the depth of emotions and feelings I get each time I pick up one of Susan May Warren's books. In each of her books, I find wonderful life lessons of the love of God, woven in such a way that it is real and not fake or pushed. Whatever Ms. Warren writes I'll read because I know I'll be captivated and blessed in a way that is life-changing. I was given this book by the publisher which did not influence my review in any way, all thoughts and opinions are my own.
Susan May Warren never ceases to amaze me with her talent. And it's not just when it comes to writing wonderful romances or exciting, suspenseful thrillers. (All though that is totally a part of it!) But her messages of hope and God's love for us never fail to fill me with some hope of my own.
I loved getting to know Logan Thorne in this Christmas time novel. He has always been there, in the background, for the last couple of series and it's nice to see him get his own story now. I loved getting to hear more of his backstory and see him get his happily ever after with Tessa! Reading Tessa's journey as she navigated her grief and struggles to move on was awe-inspiring as well. God was truly at work in this story which was absolutely beautiful to see.
I cannot wait to see what the future holds for Logan and I hope we will see Tessa included on some of his adventures as well!
Who is Logan Thorne? If you have been reading Susan May Warren lately, Logan Thorne has been a mysterious leader of men. I really enjoyed reading The Homecoming of Logan Thorne as it finally gives a history to a very mysterious man. I also really liked Tessa. She is a fantastic young woman, very dedicated to those she loves. Although it is only a novella I was truly satisfied with this story. Warren has again created a believable tale and even better it is set in Minnesota! So grab a warm beverage and settle in for a great backstory.
I really enjoyed The Homecoming of Logan Thorne by Susan May Warren. Logan's and Tessa's story is interesting and sad and then not sad. I loved the humor in it and was pleased that the humor did not detract from the emotion of the story. The characters were well drawn and there wasn't really a "bad guy". However, the best part, for me, was that God was present with each person, even when they didn't accept His presence. And I liked the gradual return to faith of those who had pushed Him away. All-in-all, this was a lovely story. Only, now I'm going to need to go back and reread the books that Ms. Warren says Logan was in. I guess that could be counted as a plus. I like rereading Susan May Warren.
Fans of Susan May Warren would have met and seen Logan Thorne in a few stories and everyone was wondering what is his story.
Fans got spoiled this Christmas with this free story which not only gave us a sweet heartwarming homecoming, but also some action and CIA suspense and mysteries with surprise twists and revelations.
Though this was short and sweet, it still screamed with everything fans love when reading a Susan May Warren story.
Susan May Warren brings another dynamic character to life. I enjoyed learning about Logan's "resurrection" in this short story. It was full of romantically suspenseful moments and a bit of a triangle that was resolved because real love doesn't fade, it just grows stronger like Ms. Warren portrayed in this sweet read. I recommend this book.
Logan finally gets his happily ever after, but not before walking through fire and flood. What a delightful novella from master author Susan May Warren.
I received a complimentary copy of the book without obligation. This review is my opinion.
My thoughts: Susan May Warren is a favorite author of mine and with good reason! Find out why with this FREE novella where a "dead man" returns to his hometown as Santa...
It's been a bit since I've read a Susan May Warren book. and boy, did I remember fast how much I love her writing and her stories. This is such a satisfying read finding out Logan's whole story and seeing him get his happy ending. I recommend it highly!
Running as a dead man from the CIA, Logan wants to see the woman he loves one more time. Blending in by playing the towns Santa, can he truly come home?! Lots of sweet moments if faith and redemption!
Sweet Christmas novella. I honestly didn’t remember Logan from previous books, but I enjoyed the story and found the character development wonderful for such a limited length. I did find the ending a bit far fetched for me personally which brought down my rating a bit.
I enjoyed "The Homecoming of Logan Thorne." It's more of a novella explaining the arrival of Logan Thorne into many of Susie May Warren's other books. Like I said, I enjoyed the story, I just wish it had gone a little deeper into the back story. But, for a quick read, it was great.
Loved this short peek into the life and story of a character that has been skirting the edges of several series now! And that it was at Christmas time is even better.
Another great book by Susan May Warren. I love these characters in this book and series. I can’t wait for the next book in this series. I would recommend this book and all of Susan’s books.
