Knowledge Plants and Fungi! shows how plants and fungi form the foundations of every ecosystem, making our planet habitable. Life on Earth couldn’t exist without plants and fungi. Plants create the food we eat and the oxygen we breathe. They regulate the climate, provide habitats for animals, and produce sustainable resources that we can use to make books, clothes, furniture and houses. Fungi are just as important.

Every page is packed with incredible facts and statistics. Did you know that the seeds of the Australian snottygobble plant don’t grow until they’ve been pooed out by emus? Or that the world’s oldest tree began growing before the pyramids were built?

Very informative, with great visual appeal. Well researched and well presented—with all the credibility of a scientific publication. There were many surprising facts nestled in these pages—some so mind blowing that I found myself delighted by the act of learning.

This book is a perfect addition to a child's botanical learning library, or an equally perfect text book for middle-school life-science classes.

As always with DK Smithsonian Knowledge Encyclopedias, this is a gorgeous book! The illustrations are vibrant and detailed and seem to jump off each page. There is more information than any kiddo (or adult, frankly) curious about plants and fungi could want. I was particularly impressed with the section on photosynthesis and respiration and how they work. They even included the chemical formulas, which I will definitely be showing my kiddo as he's interested in reactions. DK Smithsonian Knowledge Encyclopedias are a favorite with my kiddo and I suspect this one will be no different. I will be seeking out a physical copy so that he can read it more comfortably.

*Thanks to NetGalley and DK Children for providing an early copy for review.

DK's ability to provide a stunning visual look at a topic that is jam packed with useful information is unmatched. Want to deep dive into a topic? It goes without saying that you should grab the DK guide to it and this encyclopedia of plants and fungi is no exception. It is laid out beautifully and has so much to offer. You could read it over and over again, learning something new each time. Also... I am thoroughly intrigued by all things fungi so now this one has a special place in my heart.

This is a gorgeously illustrated book packed full of great information. We are a homeschooling family so for us, this is perfect for science!! It holds my daughter's attention for long amounts of time, and she doesn't even realize she's learning. This book is very detailed and provides thorough explanations and amazing photographs.

Thank you DK and NetGalley for my gifted copy in return for my honest review.
