About the author

Gary wrote his first children's book when he was nineteen. It took years to get it published. After graduating from Brigham Young University, he started doing school visits. Gary lives in Huntsville, Utah with his four children, Annie, Boone, Jonah and Jackson. They provide mountains of inspiration for his stories. He loves to read, run, travel and ride his horse. His favorite food is cake and his favorite color is blue.

The author came to my kids' school. I let each of my kids chose a book and the author signed it. I had never heard of the author or any of his books. The illustrations are hidious, but the kids loved them. My daughter (1st grade) read most of this book by herself to me. It was really fun. I think the books would have much more of an appeal to boys than girls, but my daughter laughed and laughed at it.
