One very large orc. One very small human. Does size matter?
When Elara flees corporate life to open a coffee shop in the small southern town of Fairhaven Falls, the last thing she is looking for is a relationship. But when she meets Grondar, the gruff orc owner of the bakery next door, sparks fly. Literally.
Grondar has been burned by human females before. He has no intention of letting the feisty little female next door get under his skin - no matter how attractive he finds her. And it certainly doesn’t mean he’s going to let her get away with sabotaging his business.
Despite their disastrous first meeting, Elara still finds herself having inappropriately heated thoughts about the massive orc next door. The attraction seems to be completely one-sided - until he reluctantly comes to her rescue and she discovers a very different side to the grumpy male.
Can they overcome their initial animosity, their ongoing rivalry, and their very obvious differences to find a future together?
* * ~ * * "Cupcakes for My Orc Enemy" is the third sweet and steamy monster romance that make up theSweet Monster Treatsmulti-author, shared world collection. Each book is a standalone, containing its own 'Happily Ever After', and can be read/listened to in any order -- (but the series is likely enjoyed most when read/listened to in order, as characters may appear throughout the stories!)

When I choose a dark romance, I expect an alphahole.
When I choose a book with a pink cartoon cover called ✨Cupcakes for My Orc Enemy,✨ I'm not expecting a poster child for Fragile Masculinity™ who throws misogynist tantrums.
By 38% he has:
● yelled at her (a stranger) multiple times for dressing/acting 'slutty' (she wasn't) ● accused her multiple times of sabotaging his business (she wasn't) ● put up a sign saying his coffee is for "real males" 🤡 ● complained loudly about having to be near her during a work event ● lectured her while she's injured and in serious pain ● grabbed and kissed her three times (ofc she was always 💯😍)
I probably could've stomached it better if he had said or done ONE nice thing for her at this point. But there were no secret acts of kindness or begrudging compliments - not even professional civility.
I would've DNFd, but there was only like an hour left in the audiobook 🤷♀️. (Narrated very well by Aiden Snow and Heather Firth fyi.)
In fairness, it got better after this point; we get some nice caregiving scenes and smut (+penis piercings) - but I couldn't help but feel he had serious character deficits that sex love wouldn't fix.
PS you know that super-cute trope where a MMC forces himself to eat the FMC's terrible cooking because he likes her so much?? Well, she bakes him cupcakes. He takes a bite, violently spits it out, bellows 'Are you trying to poison me?!' and has another tantrum. What a prince. 🐸
I really loved Grondar and Elara! They were a really great couple. Grandma and Gladys the witch were hoots! The ending was super sweet and I think I giggled throughout the last two chapters. I have really been enjoying the Sweet Monster Treats series. All of the books have been funny, light on the angst, and steamy. A very relaxing read!
Grondar the grump is a rather sexy orc. ^ That’s a sentence I never thought I’d ever write down.
But seriously, this quick read was a very nice surprise. I really wasn’t sure what to expect. It was cute and sweet and fun and steamy. I actually felt something for these characters and wanted to see them happy.
Who knew a big, green guy with tusks could be so adorable and charming and hot? Again, another sentence I never thought I’d write down.
This was my first read by Honey Phillips and I look forward to reading more from her. And I’d definitely like to read the other two books in this series.
Sweet and Steamy audiobook with terrific narration!
The following ratings are out of 5: Romance: 💚💜💙❤️ Story/Plot: 📕📗📙📘 Heat/Steam: 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥 World building: 🌏🌍🌎🌏 Character development: 🤪🙂😂🥰 Narrator(s): 🎙🎙🎙🎙🎙 Narration type: Dual Narration
The heroine:Elara - she just moved to Fairhaven Falls which is a town known for its Supernatural residents. She was moving to Fairhaven Falls as part of the mayor and town council’s efforts to bring in more humans to the town. Last year was the worst year of her life and she decided to start fresh in a new town, and she was given concessions on her business costs in order to open a café in town, and she would live in the apartment above her coffee shop.
The Hero:Grondar - he is a very grumpy orc. He owns the bakery in Fairhaven Falls. He loves to bake but hates people. He is known for being broody and grouchy throughout the town, as much as he was known for his genius in baking all kinds of sweet treats. He had wanted to expand his bakery into the empty storefront next door, but the mayor and town council sold the place to a human. He hated humans, especially humans who wasted his time. Though he does employ a pixie to deal with the customers.
The Story: Elara rubs Grondar the wrong way from the minute she came to town, and she wasn’t too fond of the surly orc and his penchant for loudly roaring on the other side of her wall. It didn’t help that they first met after she put a container with metal into the microwave and it started smoking until he came in and stopped a fire from starting. Though things heated up between them when he threatened to spank her.
This was a cute small-town romance, with a paranormal twist. I liked both characters and they surprised me a bit. I kind of expected a story with cupcakes in the name, to be sweet and cute, but not spicy and sexy. These two had a lot of chemistry. The characters were great, ad Grondar was one of the best grumpy Heroes that I had come across in a while. The one thing that bothered me was a witch in town was named Gladys Kravitz, and it kept making me think of the nosy neighbor on Bewitched.
This audiobook was told in the main characters points of view via dual narration and was narrated by Heather Firth and Aiden Snow. I just love Aiden Snow’s deep, but soft, sexy voice. He always does a fantastic job, and I could listen to him read a phone book. Heather Firth has a soft, feminine voice and sounds age appropriate for Elara. She also does a great job.
Honey Phillips writes romances as sweet as her name; and, in this case, a romance as sweet as cupcakes--aka Sweet Monster Treats! <3
Meet Elara: totally cute, curvaceous, and too-tempting-for-her-own-good barista, who's moved to Fairhaven Falls to start a new cafe
Meet Grondar: totally grumpy, serious, and all-too-repressed, who's her next door neighbour and possibly competition for customers.
That being said though, the title had me expecting these two to really be more "enemies" than they ending up being, so that's kind of misleading.
Because, in the truest sense of the word, they're not enemies. Sure, Grondar's grumpy and kind of mean to Elara at first, but that's literally just because he's so damn attracted to her that he can't focus! As for Elara, she really doesn't see Grondar as an enemy at all, just someone who's grumpy and like a puzzle to figure out.
The two getting together...definitely fits the 180 page pacing, and so no complaints there.
Just a heads-up that for anyone expecting a banter-full enemies-to-lovers romance, this isn't it. It's more like...Grondar unsuccessfully fighting his attraction to Elara until it gets to be too much for him; and then once he gives in, it's honestly just smooth sailing from there.
Sometimes though, a nice little story like this is just what you need.
Genre: Monster Romance Type: Standalone novella from Sweet Monster Treats collection POV: Third Person Rating:
Moving to Fairhaven Falls was supposed to be Elara’s clean slate. But the chilly welcome by the grumpy orc from next door, Grondar, made her question her decision, especially how he scorched her desires.
I loved Grondar with his annoyance and grumpiness. Elara was cheeky and not afraid to go for what she wanted. The story was cute, and the palpable chemistry between the characters heated up the sexy scenes while the hilarious supporting characters made the story entertaining.
Cupcakes for My Orc Enemy is a story of new beginning. It would appeal to readers who enjoy short and sweet monster romance.

This definitely falls in the fluffy comfort read section. I didn’t love the MMC because his reason for seeing the FMC as his enemy was his attraction to her. The FMC was a pretty average curvy girl. Short and sweet and full of spice.
I have recently come to love all things Orc!! Oh my, my !!! Orcs hold a special place in my heart these days. Who knew I would become so hooked on these big beautiful green men with muscular backs and knots on the downstairs parts? Oh, and he wears a man bun this was such a cute enemies-to-lovers/forced proximity romance. There was no other woman drama and no cheating. It was fabulous and I could not get enough of it. This book just brought me so much f-bombing joy. I just love the whole series about these beautiful Others.
I read this entire book with a smile on my face! It was cute, quick, and the steam was top-notch. It felt like Honey Phillips hit her stride with this book. I always enjoy her books, but this one was a delight! Best book in the series by far, but the other two are cute as well.
Another book I've had since who knows which sale day.
Cute and simple. Not Mrs. Phillips' best work. I usually enjoy her sci-fi much more than her fantasy/pnr. This wasn't an exception. ・ ・ ・ ━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━ 🕮⋆˚࿔✎𓂃 𝐣𝐨𝐢𝐧 𝐦𝐲 𝐜𝐨𝐦𝐦𝐮𝐧𝐢𝐭𝐲 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐦𝐨𝐫𝐞 𝐫𝐞𝐯𝐢𝐞𝐰𝐬 ━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━
This story was cuter than I was expecting! I believe insta-lust more quickly than insta-love! LOL And while it did provide a HEA, there was an indication of some time passing - leaving the length of which up to the reader. Although come to think of the seasons/holidays, it had to be between 3 and 5 months after the main story.
This was a fun beginning to the series, and I hope the others are just as enjoyable.
A sweet treat indeed! This story just tickled me! I love Elara’s upbeat personality, her enjoyment of this unusual small town. Her marketing skills are top notch and her coffee shop is a big hit. I adore grumpy Grondar! His early encounters with Elara could be better, but that changes very quickly. He’s really a big teddy bear under all that grouch. The author’s depiction of life in a small town is dead on - I love it! This is indeed a sweet Valentine treat!
Series: Fairhaven Falls #1 Rating: 3 stars - I liked it
When Elara opens a coffee shop in the small town of Fairhaven Falls, the last thing she expects is to fall into a relationship with the grumpy Orc baker next door. But while they have both been burned in the past, they can’t seem to keep away from each other.
This was a short and sweet grumpy/sunshine paranormal romance. Fairhaven Falls is a small town that is Other than human and they are trying to bring in more humans, which is how Elara got her new business. I really like the idea of this world of Others (paranormals) and humans living in harmony and just going about their lives. I wish the world had been expanded on a bit more in this book but maybe it will grow as the series goes on.
Elara and Grondar had an instant attraction that they both were fighting because of their past experiences. Grondar was an extremely grumpy orc baker who I really liked. He was so gruff and protective but also very sweet and kind once he opened up to Elara. I enjoyed their quick paced relationship and was surprised by how possessive and steamy it was. Also, the cock piercings and tattoos were unexpected.
Overall, this was an enjoyable and fun paranormal romance. I plan on reading more of this series now because this seems like an interesting town and world. I also really liked the side characters who were introduced in this so I would love to see more of them.
Heh. A grump of an orc (one who isn't very creative when it comes to naming his baking creations, too!) and a human woman who just wants to settle down with her coffee shop and new life in her new town. To say Grondar isn't thrilled to have a pretty, sweet human moving into the shop next to his would be a minor understatement. Elara might admire him both coming and going (he does look good from the rear!), but she sees the writing on the wall.
Oh, ha! Who am I kidding? These two keep locking lips unexpectedly and it WORKS for them. Sure, Grondar grumps and scowls and has some serious human-lady baggage he needs to work on, but these two generate steam and smolder whenever they're near. It just takes a little time for them to get where they need to be.
A monster-friendly town, a saucy grandma, a grumpy orc baker, a human woman who makes excellent coffee, and some serious sparks. Sometimes literally. *thumbs up*
Where can I get and Grumpy orc? Asking for a friend… I enjoy this book so much! I have to say that the title is misleading; it makes you think of enemies to lovers’ situation but is more of a romantic comedy. Elara is in a bad situation and needs to make some decisions; heartbroken and without a job, when her offer to open a coffee shop in the small town of Fairhaven Falls is accepted, she is overjoyed; opening a café has always been a dream. Of course, she did not count on her next-door neighbor is a grumpy orc. Grondar is not happy about his new neighbor, he wanted the next-door space to expand his business, but now he has to share the space with an annoying human and her fancy coffees; he did not expect that annoying human being, his mate, or that she will be so hard to resist. If you are looking for a possessive alpha male, grumpy on the outside and marshmallow on the inside, and with some maddening baking skills, getting into ridiculous situations that will make you laugh out loud more than once. This is your book.
CUPCAKES FOR MY ORC ENEMY is first of Honey Phillips’ work that I’ve read although she’s been on my TBR pile for a while. This Monster Romance novella had me literally laughing out loud at some parts. The Grumpy/Sunshine dynamic between the main characters was delightful. Although there’s also an Enemies to Lovers trope going on with the story it was Grondar’s grumpiness that truly shown.
Although both Aiden Snow and Heather Firth have narrated a ton of books this was the first time I ever listened to a performance of either of theirs. They were both fantastic. I absolutely loved Snow’s growly voice for Grondor’s lines. Firth’s acting was wonderful and I her portrayal of Grondar’s grandmother was truly smile inducing.
The book reads like Desperate housewives (how the show was narrated) and the town reminds me of Halloweentown. I loved Grondar & Elara so much. Grondar was so growly possessive and Elara was feisty. The book had the perfect balance of plot, character building, dirty talk and of course steam. I wouldn’t call this “Monster Smut” but the steamy scenes were definitely good. One thing I wasn’t a fan of was the choice of pet name he gave her. I could have done without that. Once again I was a huge fan of the grandma 🤣 I don’t know what it is but they steal my heart every time. This book was a quick read and a good time. I would definitely recommend it!
I liked Orcs but after this story I am in love with them . Especially the "Grumpy" Orc, Grodar. He has been hurt before and wants nothing to do with humans, women in particular. I love Elara. She is strong and feisty. Starting over is hard and moving to a town of Others is even harder. I love how innovative she was to get Grumpy to see her. To see that not all humans were bad. Plenty of action from the first page. Conflict and drama. I love the banter between the two. Of course what good story doesn't have a Gran to make things more complicated. She was priceless. Excellent story. I love the steam in the romance. Of course a sweet HEA to complete the story.
I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
I just saw a meme about, not a great story line. But the smut is fire. The beginning had me thinking about that meme. However as it got to the end. I was able to really appreciate the way the story unfolded, to get to the end. Lowkey, Dom energy in this book. You should read it.
I'm quite shocked at the complete lack of understanding of human biology the author displays here... Or are we supposed to take it as given that since other creatures like Orcs and Vampires have become part of society in this book, humans must have also undergone biological changes to make storytelling easier?
