Hilarity, madness and mayhem abound in all 3 books with Kong (magical cat Kongressman Kittles thank you very much), librarian companion Francie has a wild time avoiding the void and her new found void magic thanks to her uncles “gift” of the void pendant.
Things go haywire, someone dies due to buying, then owning, and trying to READ the void books in their possession, so Francie needs help getting the books and tossing the wily buggers, hang on, INTO the Void. Yup, the one she is attempting to, VOID! bahahahaha! Dang it, that’s funny! Come on!
Hortensia, who is hiding her identity as a centuries old void witch and pretending she is someone else in a retirement home - maybe a witchiness protection program?? (it is a WILD and action packed witchy book and a hoot to boot, soooo much fun to read!) has to help Francie. This sounds like a supernatural uproariously fun soap opera and it IS!
Hortensia seems more of a post 70’s Christie Hines and the Pretenders vibe old rocker chic gal vibe for me. I could totally see it, with the aesthetic and vibe. Minus the eyeliner though. But the French chic looks totalllly. NOT the bathrobe - can’t do it! Eeeek.
Thoroughly enjoyed transitioning through all 3 of the stories and Francie - hope she gains personality and backbone and stands up to the high witch who I want to kick in the britches. She reallllly does need it, ugh! She is a bully and Francie has to look out for her sweeet niece Sophie. Rend is delightful for Francie and hope to see their relationship blossom into more, please. They deserve romance. Fun series so far, great entertainment and an absolutely worthwhile read
