I once worked for the government, going into missions that never officially happened, killing enemies we never officially killed. They gave me a bunch of medals, partly for doing my job well, mostly to keep my mouth shut.
My bosses tell me that I can now sit at a desk and not worry about killing people anymore. They tell me my latest mission is simple- babysit a gangster who is being extradited back from Dubai to face justice. It ends up being anything but simple when I realise powerful forces are at work to kill him before he can spill his secrets. To complicate matters, a beautiful stranger on the run decides I’m her ticket to freedom.
To complete my mission and get her to safety, I have the small matter of getting past ISIS gunmen, Pakistani commandos, Saudi assassins and the Russian mob.
Would make for quite a tale. If I stay alive long enough to tell it.

This is the second book in the Unit 22 series, first one being The 1st Assassin. We can place this book in soldier thriller genre. Being a person who have not read the first one, I didn't feel left out. That is the thing about spy series, all stories are standalone but the glimpses of previous stories will always haunt you as they help in building up the character and reactions of the protagonist. Same happens with this one, we get glimpes of the last book when and where required. This most of the time indicates that the first book was interesting too.
So coming to this one, this time as an after effect of previous story our protagonist Major Aditya Sen is assigned to office task and simple task like escorting a criminal from Dubai to India. But Major being Major gets involved in lot of fights and mystries and ethical dilemmas. He formulates the plan, takes the lead, breaks out every possible rule and creates a story worth reading. You will find fight sequences, plotting, friendship, love and thrill throughout the story.
He not only gets involved with the enemies of the prisoner but also gets mixed up with Saudi price and Russian assassins. He is really good and quick in decision making which makes him the best one to take the lead and complete the project.
As I already mentioned the book is a fast paced thriller and a page turner. You can complete the book in just a few days. The language is easy to understand and picturesque which helps you imagine the story as a movie - making the book a visual treat as well. I wish the author the very best for future projects and hope that this series continues for a few more books. If you are a thriller lover you must try this book out.

This was my first time with the Action filled fully blast power pack kind of book. And it was intriguing fully loaded with craze and energy. I got enough enthusiasm while reading this book as this is the amazing come back of Major Aaditya Sen. His mission will lead to many struggles and difficulties along with enemies with ISIS gunmen, Pakistani commandos, Saudi assassins, and the Russian mob but throughout his strategies and actions were so amazing that u can’t resist yourself from reading more and more. That type of urge to finish the scenes will originate and this will become an unputdownable yet satisfying read for you . Unique title with incredible storyline and character development with emotional ups and downs , his goal to finish his mission( to bring the most wanted criminal safe and sound ) , unreliable experience, engaging plot, twists and shocking theme.
Worth reading. I would recommend this book to everyone specially to beginners so this will help you guys to start with amazing read so that u keep increasing your love for reading. So go for it guys.

✍️ Kudos to Author sir. This is my 3rd book of Mainak sir and his writing is wonderful as always. Ten long chapters but seems like a blink of eyes moment. There is no single page where I felt to skip and that's the real charm of someone's writing.
✍️ Here the story started with an army men who were somehow forced to sealed his mouth for his entire life. Ofcourse he got lot of rewards to keep mouth shut but then one day he was appointed to perform a unique duty.
That duty was full of suspicious activities. He got chance to enhance more darker truths. Events took place which made him courageous to be more active and ethical.
👉 Above the entire plot, the way of picturising an army man along with his duty, his commitment towards his own country, his sacrifices and bravery - every bit of it was so realistic that one can simply relate one's armyman easily.
Mainak sir's writing is always a page turner for me and this book is no different. From starting to end, I enjoyed reading this wonderful book.

The 2nd Fugitive by Mainak Dhar is the second book the Unit 22 spy thriller series.
We see that our protagonist from the previous book making a comeback i.e. Major Aditya Sen, even more rogue yet careful and serious yet sarcastic streak in his character.
As someone who has read the first book, I just want to say that the 2nd one is even more better.
There's action and then there is another lady involved, a gangster who needs to be transported back in the country to face justice and a whole lot of agents from different countries on the mission to kill the said gangster.
But the plot opens up with our dear Major on a desk, in a crappy mood , filling out bureaucratic forms. I just love how the beginning is always so innocent and then there's the thriller.
Very well written and executed yet again. Gives the reader a visual description instead of just a description. Loved reading it, hoping to see more of this series.

Right from a very young age, often we are told to expect the unexpected because irrespective of the plans that we make, or deeds that we ought to do, there are certain things which will occur the way they want to, and not what we desire.
This is the reason why seldom we are decieved by the initial outward appearances, and forget the most important and crucial detail, which is that things are not always that they seem, and are much different in reality.
In the book, ‘The 2nd Fugitive: A Unit 22 Thriller’ by author Mainak Dhar, we see a similar plight of our main protagonist, when after working for missions of highest importance, he feels dissatisfied working a regular and stable office job.
But we never know what is going to come next, and similarly, Aaditya also has to undergo a series of thrilling adventures in order to get the task which has been assigned to him done.
At first, we might feel like since he was going to be at a desk job, there would not be much adventure to be seen, but we are proven wrong as right from the start, there come incidences which will simply blow our mind away. Hence I am going to give this FIVE STARS ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Having read the first book in the Unit 22 Thriller series, I was keen to see what the second instalment has in store.
There is no question about the fact that Mr. Dhar is a talented and captivating storyteller. He has a way with words that end up weaving a perfect action thriller that grips the readers right from the get-go. A political thriller that follows the story of a retired major who has been assigned a high-stakes case, 2nd Fugitive is one of those crime thrillers where you can’t miss even a single detail, lest you miss an important plot point.
I thoroughly enjoyed this book with an intricately woven plotline and intriguing storyline. Recommended, for sure!

The Emirates Government has agreed to hand over Raza to Indian authorities as part of their diplomatic relationships. Unlike other life-threatening missions, he was involved in so far, this one is straight forward, hence Aaditya leaves alone to Dubai without his team from Unit 22.
However, at the end of his first day in Dubai, Aaditya has badly hit Saudi Royal Guards, killed two local hitmen in a luxury resort and two Pakistani ISI diplomats on the Dubai roads. Soon there are Russian hitmen also hired to bump off the Major and Raza. With multiple groups vying for Raza’s blood and Aaditya fighting a lone war against unknown threats, will he be able to succeed in this mission forms the rest of the story.

For those who have not read the first book in the series, instead of a separate recap, the author included snippets from the earlier book in the first chapter, so those picking this book standalone will not miss any details of the characters or the story that happened.

Like all earlier books of the author, the action sequences are the best part of the book, especially in the first half where there are back-to-back such sequences.
The author effortlessly transports the reader into the middle of these action sequences, filled with adrenaline rush capturing even the minutest details — the arms fired and the bones cracked. However, it is not just the action sequences that caught my attention, the strategy and meticulous planning that the Major does and the research that the author did for the storyline.
The author closes all lose threads towards the end, but does gives hopes for another Unit 22 thriller, which I am looking forward to. The no-nonsense dialogues of the lead characters especially by Aaditya are impressive; while his character is an extension to what readers already witnessed in book1, Raza’s characterization and his arc are interesting.
The backdrop of Dubai and its well-known landscapes play a major role in the story. If you are a fan of spy thrillers, then this a must read and for readers of other genres, I would recommend this as a good start.

For those who read book 1, this is going to be a real treat, as they get to witness Major Sen’s bravery one more time, and in a better setting. Like all earlier books of the author, the action sequences are the best part of the book, especially in the first half where there are back-to-back such sequences.
The author effortlessly transports the reader into the middle of these action sequences, filled with adrenaline rush capturing even the minutest details — the arms fired and the bones cracked. However, it is not just the action sequences that caught my attention, the strategy and meticulous planning that the Major does and the research that the author did for the storyline.
The author closes all lose threads towards the end, but does gives hopes for another Unit 22 thriller, which I am looking forward to. The no-nonsense dialogues of the lead characters especially by Aaditya are impressive; while his character is an extension to what readers already witnessed in book1, Raza’s characterization and his arc are interesting.
The backdrop of Dubai and its well-known landscapes play a major role in the story. If you are a fan of spy thrillers, then this a must read and for readers of other genres, I would recommend this as a good start.

This is the second book of Mainak Dhar I just completed reading and I am simply amazed by the writing style. Mainak Dhar books are always a captivating read for me. I really enjoy them.
"The 2nd Fugitive" is the sequel to "The 1st Assassin" . These two books come under the same series "Unit 22 series".
In the first book of this series Major Aditya Sen sent on a mission about the investigation of assassins against the US citizen. And this time Major Aditya Sen got a mission again. This time the task is quite simple from the previous one. He has to bring back the notorious underworld don Raza, from Dubai to India, safe and sound. In Dubai he faced many struggles and life risks while doing his mission like ISIS gunmen, Russian mob, Pakistani commandos, he killed two local hitmen and also hit Saudi Royal Guards. Aditya is fighting all these wars alone without even knowing the unknown threat just for his commitment towards his duty and nation.
This book is the comeback of Major Aditya Sen in more careful, intelligent, strict form. Also, the author added a character of a lady which will bring a new twist in the story. The reader can find fights, death, friendship, love, bloodshed, thrill, all these themes in one single plot.
The writing style of Mainak Dhar makes the story more realistic to us which defines the real life of an army man, his duties, his commitment towards his nation. How he takes risks for his nation without even thinking about his own life. How he has to sacrifice many things to fulfill his duties.

What starts as a straightforward escort mission, quickly falls apart when mysterious assassins try to sabotage the mission. Soon Aditya is caught in the crossfire and with multiple groups vying for Raza, Aaditya has to fight a lone war to succeed in his mission. Will he be able to succeed in this mission?
As a spy thriller, The 2nd fugitive has all the elements of an excellent spy thriller. A tough-as-nails spy, a thrilling mission, relentless action, and twists that will keep you guessing. The story revolves around Major Aaditya and he is a veteran, hard-boiled spy, with a penchant for action. His mission seems straightforward at the start but soon a host of enemies from ISI commandos, Saudi assassins, and even the Russian gangsters get involved. I have read the first book in this series so it was easier to connect some incidents and characters but at the same time, this book can be read as a standalone also and you won't be disappointed.
Aditya Sen, an army officer was brought to do office work on a boring desk due to some unfortunate events happened back which affected his mental health. But he was recovering fast which i had seen in first book. He had unveiled some hidden enemies who wanted to harm US president visiting India.
In this story, Aditya had been given a simple mission, to bring a notorious man who had been behind the Mumbai attacks, from Dubai to India and then he will be brought to trial. But when there was Aditya, nothing could be easy. He just wanted to save an innocent mother and her son but he didn't know what he was going to face. There was many turns and twists which made it a perfect binge read thriller. The fight between Russians, Saudis and Pakistanis was a treat to read like i was watching an edge on seat spy thriller.
Overall, this was a super adventurous spy thriller where the protagonist is not exactly a spy but an armyman who doesn't always think by mind and sometimes listens to his heart which makes him an incredible human being. I liked all the characters including the bad man who had some good side also. I loved the plot and storyline. The narration was totally gripping. If you like spy thrillers, unputdownable story with lots of twists, this is totally recommended.

Firstly I really enjoyed every line of this book, I really appreciate the author who narrated this amazing book.
This novel follows The First Assassin as the second in the Unit 22 series. Instead of a separate summary for those who haven't read the first book in the series, the author placed passages from it in the first chapter so readers who choose to read this one as a stand-alone won't lose any details about the characters or the events that took place.
The opportunity to see Major Sen's bravery once more, in a better context, will be a tremendous treat for readers of book 1. The action scenes, like in the author's other books, are the best part of this one, especially in the first half, which features back-to-back action scenes.
The author skillfully transfers Putting the reader right in the thick of these action scenes, the adrenaline surge captures even the smallest details, like how the arms fired and how the bones snapped. The Major's careful planning and tactics, as well as the author's research for the plot, are what really attracted my attention, not simply the action scenes.
Near the end, the author wraps up all loose ends, but she does leave room for another Unit 22 mystery, which I am eager to read. While Raza's character is an extension of what readers already saw in book 1, his characterization and his arc are intriguing. The lead characters' direct dialogues, particularly that of Aaditya, are impressive.

🍁Author Mainak is truly my favourite Indian writer when the word thrillers hit my mind, he has to be the one who flashes first and I had to read this book since so long!
I have read the first one and here comes the second one tada, oh my god!! Can it get anymore fiery, crazy and interesting? From the very first page the author initially does his magic adds that layer of suspense which gets thicker as you flip pages.
Now, there is a major transformation in the protagonist and the roles is changed but who knew that it will only raise the curiosity of the readers and so did mine, the book this time is also about characters, loved how layered and deeply plotted the characters are! The relationships are quite well explored making it as a whole thing.
It’s unpurdownable from start to end, to be very honest it started getting more addictive and intense after episode four for me and those who have read it could relate to me I guess, Assassin was definitely so different than this and Fugitive is truly unique in itself, I was thrilled, I was thinking and I was curious the entire time. The writing is top notch as always with great dialogue writing and delivery and there are no loop holes what so ever!
One of the quotes at the end by Churchill also has my heart!
The book in same way also create the sense of gratitude for the ones who work hard to protect us! Definitely a very thrilling read that shouldn’t be missed, can be read as a stand-alone but better to start with Assassin, can’t wait to read next! Go for it.

This is the second novel by Mainak Dhar that I've read, and I really liked it. The other book I've read was The 1st Assassin. The two belong to "A Unit 22 Thriller" series.
This narrative, in my opinion, offers every element a fan of military-spy-action-drama fiction could ask for. From the terrorists to the hostages to the heroes, and everyone in between, it provides a step-by-step, in-depth look at all the characters involved as politics, the press, and several nations fight for their respective causes. For some reason, this type of story can always hold my attention, because I can’t resist a hardened bad ass alpha who takes charge and saves the world.
The narrative centres on Major Aaditya Sen's incredible return. Aaditya Sen, a major, is assigned to a boring desk job as a result of some earlier occurrences. However, he was given a new task: transporting the notorious underworld don Raza from Dubai to India. Together with the prisoner's adversaries, assassins from Saudi Arabia and Russia come into contact with him. What actually occurred subsequently was not what was intended.
Anyway Mainak Dhar wrote a story that was clever and simply not cheap. Not silly, gimmicky, or trivial. I was flummoxed as to what will happen next. As you can imagine the characters are not the most believable people. Also, the plot is not extremely sophisticated. Nonetheless, he creates a plot that is incredibly action-packed and can carry the reader to its thrilling and satisfying end.
