Sixteen-year-old Jackie Smalls's father has just walked out on his family, leaving Jackie and five other siblings to be raised by a newly single mother. In addition, Jackie has just found out that she is pregnant and her baby daddy won't claim the unborn child as his.

What is Jackie to do with no father of her own, no father for her child and an overburdened mother? This is the story of a Compton Chick.

This book shows in depth what some teenage girls go through when they reach a certainb age. I think this book is a book that teens should read if they are into drama and street games. This book forces a gurl to decide whether she wants to live her life as a teen or take on the new role of being a mom.
