West Greene is a romance author that specializes in short, steamy books and erotic shorts.
All your instalove needs can be found in one of her books, whether you're looking for possessive men, men with no morals, spicy FF romance, a boy just needing his Daddy, a twink just needing love, or even the other woman to get her HEA.
West Greene refuses to be stuck in one trope or type of romance. She loves variety, and she's definitely going to share that variety with her readers.
I mean 😄 this is the whole story. The end. Only the daddy here is the lumberjack who finds a small, lost Jay lost in the woods and immediately wants to keep him.
“Baby boy, where you’re concerned, I’m always at least half hard.”
Yeah. Not great, but I'm not going to lie, I did like the main couple. I did. And for that I'll round this rating up to 2⭐.
But the story is not well written, it's not well told. It goes OTT in the beginning and even though it simmers down a bit, it again uses the same elements used in many of the short stories so far.
At this point it feels like a copypasta of everything twink that this author writes. Twinks in the stories are all virgins with small dicks who squeal and giggle all the time while they need someone to take care of them despite having an education and a job.Sound familiar? Anyone who ever read m/f romance books knows the concepts are taken literally from the hetero world. I don't mind per se, sometimes it's cute to have these elements, but then the tropes have to be different, I think.
This story had a daddy kink, it was fine, but not great, it wasn't well executed. Insta-love was ridiculous, Jay and Bane broke the record here, they loved each other after one day.
The dialogues weren't working for me - again - and at this point I'm a bit surprised, since I really loved a couple of this author's books like - Hating You, Gone With The Sand, Criminally Scandalous - but these shorts are not good.
This is a sweet and sexy insta love between Jay and Bane. The author moves the story quickly and smoothly as she brings the two together when Bane rescues Jay from his mentally abusive parents and becomes his protective and loving daddy. I enjoyed reading their story.
I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book. All opinions in this review are my own and freely given.
The good + Bane making Jay feel loved and worthy + Bane seeing Jay and thinking 'yep, I'm keeping him' + Bane protecting Jay from his parents + Big Bane scooping up tiny Jay and carrying him around all the time
The neutral o I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy of this book. My review remains honest and unbiased o The book is advertised as ddlb, but I thought that term implied age play, which is not present in this book. I've googled a bit, and it seems the internet is not entirely sure either. Anyway, this book does not contain age play o Jay trusting Bane on the spot seemed like a sure way to get killed (or get claimed by an obsessive Daddy for life, which was the premise of the book so I don't know why I'm even surprised)
The bad - Bane refused to wear a hard hat at work, which is both a really stupid thing to do and setting a really bad example as a business owner. But most of all, he ordered Jay to wear one to protect himself, while Jay would be hurt just as much (or maybe even more) if something were to happen to Bane. Bane should just wear the damn hat
This book delivered exactly what was promised: an obsessive Daddy claims the boy he saves, and moves him into his house and his life on the spot. Would recommend if you're looking for instalove, a little hurt/comfort, carrying and caretaking.
3/5. Highlights may contain spoilers. Read at your own risk.
Content Warnings for book: Homophobia
Kink: Daddy kink
This book was an interesting little novella. It’s basically all the stuff I love (size difference, daddy kink, hurt/comfort, instalove, obsession) in 50 pages and so I can’t really complain. It was enjoyable! I’d love to see what this author could do with more page space if they let themselves so so.
Definitely one of those romances you don’t take too seriously or as a manual for real life but - isn’t that true for most of what I read? So yeah, if you like the tropes I mentioned earlier I think you could make this a good brain candy read.
This book is a part of the Essentially Yours series and focuses on Bane and Jay. Jay is a college student who has been struggling with his family’s inability to accept that he was gay. He had come out to them years prior but his family wouldn’t accept it. When they all went on a mini vacation as a family, his parents tried to set him up with the daughter of a friend of theirs. Jay is hurt that his family can’t love him for who he is so he takes off up the mountain to get away from them for a bit. While he is on the mountain his car breaks down which leads to Jay having a complete breakdown. That’s the state that Bane ends up finding Jay in and he is there to help calm him and make him feel safe. Bane is a natural Daddy who just wants to find his own boy to be able to take care of and love and to be loved back. As soon as he met Jay, he immediately knew that he wanted to be his daddy and to be the one to love him for the rest of his life. I loved this story and how wonderful Bane and Jay were together! They were exactly what the other had been needing in life and they complemented each other so well. This was a great story and a great introduction to the series!.

I absolutely adore instalove stories because there's no drama or worries, and we immediately know that the two characters are going to get together very quickly. It's unrealistic of course, but that's the beauty of fiction. The instant love that developed between Jay and Bane warmed my heart and I couldn't stop smiling as I read their dialogues, confessions, and of course, the dirty talk. There were a few places where Jay's giggling made me think he was being portrayed as an overly feminine girl rather than a normal guy who just was into men. Maybe the author tried to use that to emphasise the fact that Jay was a Little Boy.
If you're into reading about dominant men melting over their little boys, you're going to love this book. It will surely melt your heart and make you smile.
Jay’s car breaks down on a mountain road at night and he breaks down crying as it is another bad thing in a really bad day. He is interrupted by a tall man with a big truck knocking on the car window, scaring Jay. Bane calms Jay down, and after Jay doesn’t want to back to his parents, Bane takes him home for the night. Bane is a natural Daddy, immediately drawn to Jay and his need for someone to care for him. Jay instinctively responds to Bane as his Daddy, and they are on their way to a HEA with a bump or two to deal with first. This is a sweet short story with a cute Little and a loving Daddy, willing to take care of his boy, no matter what.

Jay was trying to get away from parents who were not willing to let him be himself. They were on vacation and he jumped in his car only to have it breakdown on him. Not only was he having a bad day, his luck didn't seem to be getting any better. Until a truck drove up to his car. And Bane got out and rescued him from his broken down car and offered him unconditional understanding, care and insta-attraction that turned into insta-lust. And from there they formed a connection that was the beginning of Jay finding unconditional support and love. This pair may have happened upon one another on the road. But the breakdown lead them to each of their one.

This is a short, but super hot DDlb, insta-love, age gap book. Jay gets stranded in a storm, and thankfully is rescued by gorgeous Daddy Bane, who feels an immediate attraction to and need to protect and shelter the young man.
I loved this steamy tale. The MC’s had a great connection and amazing chemistry. Bane is such a natural Daddy, not only with Jay, but with his crew. Jay is a bit of a mess, just needing a Daddy with a firm, guiding presence to whom to hand over all his troubles and problems. Everything flowed so naturally and even though it was quick the way they moved into a relationship, it was by no means rushed. Very good book to read whenever you want a spicy romance.

Jay cannot believe his parents could treat him this way, trying to set him up with a daughter of a friend. He came out to them when he was still in high school. He just took off driving, now he is on a mountain road when the car dies, it is all too much for him. He is crying when a Bane pulls up his truck, he offers him a place to stay. Bane is treating him so nice, its like he wants to take care of him.
This is a sweet and steamy story, Bane treats Jay better than his parents did, filling the void that has been there for sometime.

Jay finds himself broken down and is rescued by Bane. Neither one of them expected the chemistry that they would share or how quickly their feelings would grow for each other.
This is a quick read that gives you everything from great writing, investing characters and a few steamy scenes. Jay and Bane have a Dd/lb relationship where Bane quickly takes over everything and takes care of Jay.
This does move VERY quickly, so it didn't feel like I got a full story with this book. It only felt like I got a couple scenes pulled from another book, and that I'm missing part of the story.
If you are in the mood for a light steamy instalove with a boy and a protective daddy, this one definitely fits the bill. Jay, a cute college senior, is struggling with parents who won’t accept that he’s gay. He meets Bane when his car breaks down, and Bane, a naturally protective daddy, rescues him. Jay is adorably innocent, and Bane is so sweet and loving. Their HEA is inevitable, and the path to it is full of hugs, kisses, humor, and chemistry. Makes for an enjoyable afternoon read.

That Lumberjack Kind of Love: Essentially Yours was such a sweet story. Jays car breaks down while trying to escape his family. After years of mental abuse he just can’t take it. Bane finds Jay broken down on a snowy mountain road. It’s love at first sight and this Daddy will do anything to protect his baby boy. I don’t usually read MM stories but this was actually very sweet and I loved how Bane wanted to protect and take care of Jay. I would definitely recommend this book.

Jay is stranded and terrified when he is saved by the handsome Bane. He immediately soothes his Little self and steps in to curb the panic threatening to overwhelm him and offers him a safe haven. Bane is hiding just how obsessed with the adorable Jay that he is and tries to show him that all he could ever want and need could be right in front of him. Will Jay have the courage to stay and allow himself to be loved by Bane or will he allow his fear to take him back to the hell he has been living?
Have loved every book I've read by West Greene so far. I haven't read many but I love insta love short stories and these are some of the good ones, finished it in one sitting ofc.
This book was very adorable, sweet and sexy. I just loved Bane and Jay and no matter how many books I read the pet names are and will always be adorable. The bonus scene was perfect and just what I needed after finishing this but wanting a bit more of Bane and Jay.

These short instalove stories do NOT disappoint, so keep them coming!
I loved how Bane and Jay were instantly attracted to each other and Bane made sure to protect Jay whenever possible. Jay's parents were absolute jerks, but Bane stepped in to make sure that Jay didn't get hurt by them or from their remarks. Sweet, but spicy for sure.

Jay is having the worst day, when his car breaks down. Fortunately, Bane happens to be driving by - one look, and Bane is obsessed with Jay, and he’ll do anything to stop him from crying more. And this begins a super quick but still very spicy and sweet, Daddy-little boy romance. I liked how sweet Bane was with Jay, supportive and loving. A short read, with plenty of warm fuzzies.
4.5 Stars This was a great book. I really enjoyed Bane and Jay together. These two meet when Jay is stranded and Bane is there to help him out. These two move a lighting speed but they have a deep and wonderful connection and chemistry that won't be stopped. I really enjoyed this book and I can't wait to see what West has in store for us next.

All Jay needed was someone to love him and he definitely got that in Bane.
Bane is the epitome of what men and women want...over 6 feet of pure sex and strength. Bane was clear in his intentions with Jay, his protection and his support. Jay flourished under the love and care of Bane.
Love West's writing and will continue to read them..."chef's kiss"!!!!.

This is a quick read about a Daddy finding his boy right when he needed him most. Jay runs out on the mini family vacation because his parents suck and ends up having car troubles driving up to the mountains. As he's starting to have a panic attack, in comes Bane to the rescue. Bane is obsessed with Jay immediately and knows that he needs to take care of him. This is instalove and they are together after a few hours.
First, the writing here is good. I think it's really important to address that right away.
Second, the characters fall in love so fast that it breaks realistic behavior. But this is a short story - like 50 pages. Of course everything is going to happen fast.
If you're in the mood for a cute story with a bit of an age difference and insta-love, give it a try. I'll probably read it again at some point.
This was a great quick read with a tiny bit of drama, a whole bunch of steam and some snuggles for good measure. If you need a quick pick me up with an obsessed alpha-mallow this is ABSOLUTELY your perfect book!.

Jay upset that his family ignore who he is and ran away when they once again tried to set him up. Bane comes across of a car on the side of the road and is taken by the driver crying in the front seat.
This is a sweet daddy romance that will warm your heart as Bane is determined to take care of Jay.

A sweet short of a young man having the worst day only to be rescued and cared for by his big lumberjack. Whirlwind romance that takes them both by surprise, but both are more than happy to find that someone who they can put their trust and love in return.

Another 5-star book from West Greene. I think I have read everything this author has published, and I can't say enough about them. They are quick but manage to tell a complete story; they are usually outside of my usual reads, so I get to dive into something new, and they are under an hour of reading time, which is perfect when you are in a waiting room, etc.
