This small, hardcover book is not a textbook nor is it an in-depth study of animal husbandry. It is a concise look at 30 animals from around the world. Excellent photographs of each animal are given along with statics on their height, weight, length, life span, and a special fact.

In the write up of each animal there are specifics to their own unique qualities that make them suitable for their environment, activities, birthing of their young, etc. A small bit of information of their existence as it relates to man is given on each animal's page such as....

Beaver - "Early settlers of North America hunted the beaver for its valuable fur and for meat. The population of beavers declined dramatically until regulations and careful planning increased their numbers......."

Striped Skunk - "Skunks can be a problem for home dwellers in the country or city if they decide to live beneath a building. Many more skunks are hit and killed by cars than are hunted. Skunks carry rabies and can bite and scratch as well as spray."

There is a glossary in the back of the book with animal specific words as well as a Bibliography.

Written specifically for elementary to middle-grade children, the book is still an enjoyable and good learning tool for adults who just want to learn a bit about mammals. The emphasis of the book is on the premise that God has designed and God has created these magnificent mammals. The book is not a Bible study but it demonstrates "...The complexities of life and the design implied therein are strong monuments to a Creator and the Genesis account of creation upon which mankind can build a strong defense for faith in God."
