This book combines recipes, artistic photographs of culture and food, and highlights on different varieties of favorite foods such as cheeses, breads, and gelato. FLORENCE captures the foods and meals consumed by the every-day Florentine.
I personally love to cook, and when I received this book as a gift this Christmas, I was very excited to create some of the best foods my family and I ate while staying in Florence this past summer. The food in Florence, to us, was the most memorable (aside from the home-cooked meal of pesto we shared with family in Genoa).
Wonderful! The photos are fantastic, the recipes glamorous and enticing but the instructions are still easy to follow and the ingredients are surprisingly not hard to find. The anecdotal and cultural information is fabulous. This really is a wonderful cookbook and highly recommended. I LOVE the recipe for peach sorbet. We've modified it for all kinds of fruit sorbets - raspberry, melon, apricot - it's delish.
OK. Similar to the Culinaria books, but more coffee-table-y. Pretty much no history and fairly minimal on the recipies. Lovely close-ups of Florentine foods.
