A nearly overwhelming amount of knowledge about wine, vineyards, pairings, cooking, and more. The closest thing to a sommelier textbook that the common wine enthusiast can handle

I haven't actually read this whole thing, but it's more of a reference, plus some very interesting chapters on wine history, regions, varietals, winemaking techniques...lots of good and informative nuggets for an ignoramus like me. Learning about how they make champagne kind of blew my mind. Who figures this stuff out?

As an oenophile, this guide further added to my growing collection of wine books. This guide goes into depth about the various kinds of wines and when each one is appropriate for whatever occasion. Definitely a good book to have when preparing for company.
