After three years of dating, Ron admits he cheated on Hermione for two of those years with Daphne Greengrass--and Harry knew all about it. Reeling from the betrayal by her friends and family, Hermione must rebuild her life and discover new bonds with an unlikely group including Theo Nott, Blaise Zabini, and Pansy Parkinson.
What happens when Draco Malfoy, her first and deepest love, suddenly reappears in Hermione's life and she finds that her feelings have only grown deeper with time?
OR: Hermione and Draco secretly dated at Hogwarts, he left after his trial, and now he's returned to win her back.
The best fanfic I've read in a while. This brought me back to my peak Dramione obsession, when I just stopped reading published books and just read all the ffs I could get my hands into, all at once. It took me about six months and I've never been happier about diving into a personal project / picking up a new hobby, probably ever. I still take it up once in a while, reading the new ones that pop up, and omg I'm so glad I picked this one up!
Here we have one of my favourite tropes, which is where Hermione and Draco were together all along in secret during their time at Hogwarts - also, the fact that there's Ron bashing never hurts. The bulk of the story is told after the war, but there are flashbacks to the past where we can see them being teens, falling in love and welcoming their relationship in one of the most beautiful ways I've ever read it. Narcissa being all for it SINCE THE BEGINNING is also one of my faves tropes within the Dramione world and this delivered soooo much!
And by the way, making all the chapters name's Taylor Swift's song titles... I'm still speechless. This is so f*cking good! I'm just in love... Amor Vincit Omnia including lack of sleep because I read this in a day and a half and I don't think my eyelids have recovered yet.
Still kind of sobbing because it's over, but I loved everything, including with in the ending, so...
✅ Auror Draco / Researcher Hermione ✅ Secretly dating at Hogwarts ✅ Weasley bashing ✅ Cute romance ✅ Pace ✅ Found family ✅(🆗) Complexity of the plot ✅(🆗) Action ✅(🆗) Smut (good, but a lot of it) ❗️❗️Trigger warnings: mention of past torture, cheating, manipulation, and emotional abuse
Not the most complex plot or the most angsty story, but it was cute and heartwarming and exactly what I needed.
A few months after leaving Ron, Hermione learns that he spent 2 of the 3 years they were dating cheating on her with Daphne Greengrass and that they are now engaged. Even worse, she comes to realize that Harry and many of the Weasleys knew about it and said nothing. Broken by this double betrayal, Hermione ends up on Theo Notts’ doorstep, wanting a quiet place to stay while she gathers her thoughts and tries to rebuild herself. Little did she know that this would spark a chain reaction that would lead her to come face to face again with her first love, the one that got away: Draco Malfoy. While navigating her new friendships and the reality of being forced to see Draco again, Hermione also needs to watch out for herself. She is working on developing a cure for lycanthropy, and not everyone wants her to succeed.
This fanfiction is engaging, fluffy, and full of good old Weasley bashing, and it was exactly what I needed. It is not the best Fanfiction I’ve read, and if you are looking for similar fiction works that are of higher quality, I would recommend Draco Malfoy and the Mortifying Ordeal of Being in Love, or Measure of a Man… Or Remain Nameless even, but I still enjoyed this one very much, and I liked that it was lighter and with a faster pace than the three other works I just mentioned.
I love the found family trope, and I like how the author integrated it into the story but also mixed Slytherin with Gryffindors. It was not just about Hermione getting adopted by the Slytherin, it was about her befriending them, but also keeping some of her old friends and creating a new dynamic.
Ron and the Weasleys had it coming, and it was so satisfying to see Hermione get her revenge eventually. It became a little intense near the end, too intense maybe, and slightly unrealistic, but this is a fanfiction after all, and I just enjoyed the wild ride.
This Draco was very nice and kind and almost too sweet at times. I am not complaining about sweet love interest, I am simply pointing out that it is a little out of character from what I am used to in the original work and also in the Fanfictions I’ve read. That being said, it was also a nice change to see him more relaxed, carefree, and openly being sweet to Hermione. Narcissa was also a little too sweet from the start. I love the relationship she has with Hermione, but even in the flashbacks, she is rooting for her and Draco from the start, and I would have loved to either see her be colder at first or have more background information on her explaining this different behavior from what we are used to (but again, I understand that this is a fanfiction and that the author can do as they wish).
The romance had an insta-love feeling to it, but considering the context, it does make sense, I guess. Hermione and Draco dated for a while at Hogwarts and only split because Draco left after his trial to protect Hermione’s reputation. Three years have passed since, but they never stopped loving each other, so when they see each other again and are even “forced” to spend time together, it doesn’t take long for sparks to fly again between them.
There is a lot of smut. Like, a lot. I don’t mind smut at all, but considering the length of this Fanfiction, I think less smut in the second half would have been a good choice, and it would have allowed the story to progress at a quicker pace. I skipped a few of the spicy moments between Hermione and Draco because there are a lot of them in the second half, and they are all detailed and graphic, at one point, I just wanted to know where this story was going and what would happen with the Weasleys and Hermione’s research.
There are a lot of flashbacks, and I am not the biggest fan of flashbacks. I struggle to get invested in them, but while some of them are long, they are also cute and fluffy. I will admit that I skimmed a few of them near the end, though.
I DNF’d at 39%. The concept was definitely there, I loved the idea of second chance romance, and I can’t lie, the Ron bashing was satisfying lol.
But, the progression of the relationship between Draco and Hermione was just way too easy. It happened so quickly, with them unrealistically falling into crazy, deep, passionate love within a matter of days. I also felt that the writing did more “telling” than “showing” and the characters often spoke in long, long paragraphs and monologues and it just didn’t feel very natural.
Also, most of the characters felt very out-of-character but I suppose fanfics are the opportunity to explore that.
I wish I could have finished it as I’ve never DNF’d a Dramione fic before, but it just wasn’t for me.
Screaming, clapping, giggling and kicking my feet in the air like a school girl over this. It will be hard for me to read another Dramione fic that has Ron/Molly/Ginny Weasley in it from now on. Hermione might take the high road…but I don’t. And I will meet them in hell.
Dnf at 43%. The OOC is too much. The romance had no build up and it just felt unnatural to see this level of passion with almost no substance to back it up. It’s nice to see Hermione hanging out w other friends but this was honestly a disappointment. The number of times Draco ended his sentences with “…, love.” was the number of times I wish he stayed in Azkaban 💀 Narcissa calling Draco “my dragon” was the cherry on top 👹
Pros: - I love a good Ron/Weasley clan bashing. - I was rooting for Harry's redemption arc the WHOLE TIME.
Cons: - *insert gif of Mr Krabs playing the world's smallest violin* DAMN Draco and Hermione loved turning themselves into martyrs, it was absolutely ridiculous. - Too much smut. There I SAID IT. I literaly read this so fast because I kept skimming through the paragraphs and paragraphs of eternal smut and sex. - Everyone felt too out of character.
Dramione…the chokehold they continue to have on me. I just know I’ll never be over them, never recover from their love. This book though? Didn’t love it! Farrrr toooooo looooong, very repetitive, and just a smidge too sugary sweet and fanciful - to the point of not being believable at all. Here’s the thing though, these fanfics are lovingly written and shared for free by these sweet, sweet authors, so I don’t want to totally trash it. It wasn’t bad, but perhaps the writing was a bit too young for my personal taste. Things I DID love: secret Hogwarts romance is my kryptonite. Well done! Sweet and smitten Draco has my heart, and a strong Hermione, yasss Queen. I’ll leave it there, if you want the synopsis go read it on AO3!
2025 reread: this books gets upgraded to Infinity because it's the best and I love it so much. 😭❤️
2024 reread: still obsessed with this as much as the first time I read it. The tension, the conflict, the found family, everything about it is perfect 👏🏼
I feel like I’ve found my perfect fanfic and I immediately want to start reading it again.
10/10 recommend. This fic has it all and I won’t accept any criticism or comment!
This was okay. I had to finish but was deeply disappointed in myself for my compulsion to always finish books.
Would recommend instead: 💠 Remain Nameless (Soul-Bonded) 💠 Draco Malfoy and the Mortifying Ordeal of Being in Love (Auror Draco/ Researcher Hermione) 💠 Measure of a Man (Sophisticated Draco Malfoy) 💠 All You Want (Hogwarts Relationship)
I had high expectations with those taylor swift song chapter titles, BUT THEY WERE SURPASSED. I keep picking such good fanfics but this was wowowowo.
WARNING: Not all dramione lovers are gonna love this one, because Harry, Ron, Ginny, Molly and like half the Weasley's are like EXTREMELY OOC. Honestly, I did not mind for this fic.
BUT HERMIONE AND DRACO. DAMNNNNNNNNNNN. Their relationship from Hogwarts to the present and the way the flashbacks paralelled so damn well with the present day?!? IMMACULATE. There's this one flashback of Draco caring for injured Hermione in Hogwarts and then in present day, it's Hermione taking care of injured Draco in St. Mungo's. LIKE 😍💗💓💞💘
It's not an AU so it's lighter than the past few fanfics I've been reading. It definitely reminded me a lot of DMATMOOFIL with the entire premise and auror draco x healer hermione setup.
Also I hate Ron. And Harry, WTF. But he got better near the end. Like yes, they are pretty OOC but Ron really started his villain era here 🤡🤡
All in all, lovely dramione, joining my favourites tier, and beautifully written in a non-AU world (WHICH IS RARE THESE DAYS) highly recommend if you're okay with some OOC ron-bashing
» Honestly, I'm beginning to get a complex here, Granger. Why is no one threatening to kill you if you hurt me?«

✥ 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝒃𝒐𝒐𝒌 This was quit a long one - wow. The storyline was well thought out and the relationship between Hermione and Draco was so pure! They loved each other for a long time and fight for their love. Ron is just a big asshole in this book and it was so funny to see how easily Hermione can destroy him. The friendships in this book were Elite! Like the whole Slytherin Gang? I want this for myself too. Overall this was a nice and enjoyable read. Sometimes a little too long because there were a lot of filler scenes with boring daily stuff, but it was well written (and you easily can skip these parts).
Started pretty well, quite engaging. I was a bit bothered by how their relationship in Hogwarts happened so fast and then suddenly the fic became a copy of Draco Malfoy and the Mortifying Ordeal of Being in Love but with a very out of character Ron/Harry/Draco.
Draco doesn’t have that enemies to lovers arrogant vibe and he’s already all head over heels for Hermione.
Don’t get me wrong, I love a good Ron bashing, but the way everyone treated Hermione (besides George) was so not on point! Specially Harry. He would have called Ron out. He would have smashed Ron’s face. And Ginny would never take Ron’s side on cheating like that.
And again, all I could think of was just a poor written version of Draco Malfoy and the Mortifying Ordeal of Being in Love.
Granger after a cure? Check Greyback alive and after her? Check Auror Draco? Check Tonks alive and head auror? Check
I mean there’s so many other ways to have healer Hermione and Auror Draco… this was for sure a fanfic of a fanfic
Smut 3/5 and it’s 3 only for the signet ring scene…
now in no means am i under the idea that every fanfiction will be completely original but this is dmatmoobil's plot line with like....... more angst? i loved the flashbacks and this was genuinely great but as soon as i saw the (spoilers for both fics ahead you've been warned) (i'm so serious) (if you read further it's your own fault) whole hermione is gonna find the cure for lycanthropy i was like ??????? i am suddenly so uninterested. had to literally check which one was written first and if i'm correct its not this one? anyways good fic and ronald weasley i will see you in HELL you WANKER
I have no words for this perfection. I waited months for this to be completed and downloaded and started it the instant I got an email of the last update. The plot, relationships, character development, emotions, angst, smut, fluff, and love. It was all immaculate. I even cried at so parts. If that doesn't tell you how good this fic is then I don't know what will. 🥰💖💫
I like the idea of the secret Hogwarts relationship but man…
-Why’s everybody gotta have tears streaming down their faces all the time? -the smut actually gets boring - also… telling her to come ON COMMAND sis my anxiety could never -felt like a rip of Remain Nameless (soul bond by Flitwick) and DMATMOOBIL (lycanthropy cure). -1400 pages of everybody jerkin it to how incredible Hermione is, give it a rest.

I wanted to love this but it didn't hit the mark for me... The found family aspect was amazing and I loved every second of that but flashback Draco was just not it and if he called her "love" one more time I was going to lose it... Felt really insta-love which is my most hated trope. There were several aspects that I really liked but this Draco version really was what didn't click for me.
Rating - ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️✨ Spice - 🌶️🌶️🌶️ Pairing - M/F 👩❤️👨 Genre - HP Fanfic Drama - 🎭 Timeline - Linear POV - Multiple Kinks - Dirty Talk / Praise Ending - HEA with a sequel Triggers - If there are any, read them Tropes - Found family, healing journey, secret relationship . . .
🎤 Hear me out… Just… Trust the process.
Trust that the author has a vision for this entire story, and that she will get you there.
That as a Dramione lover, you will be overcome with happiness by the time you reach the end.
The story isn’t perfect. For the first 20% of it I was leaning towards a 2 star rating for a few reasons: 1. I was anxious for Hermione to steam roll the entire Weasley family + Harry and she wasn’t doing what I needed her to do lol 2. The writing was a little off, character names were woven into dialogues 3-4 times per paragraph (thankfully this resolved itself around the 20% mark) 3. I also didn’t care at all for how they first got together so quickly back in the days. It felt sudden and came out of nowhere and I didn’t believe it in the least bit. Thankfully, their love for each other shone through the pages once they got back together and that specific moment in time back in detention didn’t define their chemistry for the remainder of the book
With that said, once I got over the hump…
Well let’s say I promptly lost control of my entire bloody day because there was no way I was going to stop reading until I saw Hermione and Draco through to the end!!
All the things I adored:
💌 First and foremost, DRACO & HERMIONE! Everything about them, their chemistry, the way they supported each other, how thoughtful they were, their personalities, their flaws. ALL OF IT was perfection and the best part was that because they were together for 3/4 of the story, it just read like unboxing a pile of Christmas presents on a loop, over and over again and I…🥹🤧
💌 The friend gang!!!!! They each had their own personalities and effortlessly formed an amazing and impenetrable group of friends who had each other’s backs! Shoutout to Padma and Pansy and Theo for being absolute treasures! ❣️
💌 Narcissa Malfoy, ladies and gentlemen! That’s it, that’s all the introduction she needs 👸🏼
💌 This was a fluffy, low stress read. The little bit of angst there was to it gets thoroughly bandaged without first needing to drag you through the pits of Hell and I appreciated that
💌 The Hogwarts glimpses we got throughout the story. I loved every second of the clandestine activities. The author weaved them so well with actual events of the series that I could easily believe that these scenes were canon!
💌 Hermione’s healing journey to believing in herself and that she never deserved what Ron put her through.
💌 Lastly, just Draco. Draco who was an immovable force of nature every time Hermione needed it. The way he reminded her of her worth, that he believed in her and put her first 🤧
Honorable mentions: ✅ Pip’s cuteness ✅ The banter. It was delicious, especially so because the characters had some good depth to them ✅ The teachers running bets on Hermione and Draco’s relationship 😂 ✅ The infinite threats to Draco’s life if he ever hurt Hermione ✅ The little moments when it was just the two of them and they danced or talked or Draco made food ✅ The friend group again because they were fucking perfect! ✅ Harry’s subtle humiliation -> “You were right, I would have told him about it as soon as you left.” 🥵 ✅ No stones were left unturned ✅ The fact that the retribution wasn’t ever flashy!!! Ugh and to think I wanted a big, loud reveal at Ron’s wedding! But I promise, what the author gave us was SO much better 🥹
In conclusion…
🍾 Was the story on the sweet side of fluffy? Yes 🎊 Was there maybe too much smut? Possibly 🥳 Were some of the supporting characters OOC? Yes 😈 But was my petty side completely sated with the total destruction of the Weasleys (minus the good ones)? Abso-fucking-lutely! 👑The take down (as in Hermione’s final confrontation) was handled calmly, swiftly and beautifully without any over the top drama on her part and it felt so much more satisfying than a loud screaming match would have felt 😮💨 And Ron’s final appearance as the lonely forgotten tool he was… Perfection!!! 😌 Did I pretty much reread the entire story the day after I finished it? … well yes, absolutely I did 😌
🥀To clarify, I am a petty bitch. This story fed all of my soul’s needs for triumph over all of the people who have wronged me, so do take my review with a grain of salt 😂
I know there’s an unspoken etiquette in fanfic communities about not leaving negative comments.. but is there any etiquette when it comes to plagiarism within fanfic? Because if we’re all expected to stay polite and never say anything remotely “critical,” then what’s stopping someone from copying another fic nearly 1:1 and getting away with it?
This felt (was) like a watered-down, less thoughtful rewrite of Draco Malfoy and the Mortifying Ordeal of Being in Love. Same setup: Healer Hermione, auror Draco tasked with keeping her safe, and of all the magical illnesses she could be researching, it just had to be lycanthropy. Even Greyback being the main villain. At least DMATMOOBIL could convince the reader that the research, the ingredients and the acts that went into making the cure was believable and serious enough. Here, Hermione just adds random ingredients to the base until something sticks. It read like a science fair project gone rogue.
I don’t understand why everyone was so out of character. It was obvious to me that the author is American because the attempt to mimic British speech failed completely. Draco would never, and I mean never, call his mother “mum.” He always said “mother.” He’s an aristocrat, for heaven’s sake. Neither Pansy nor Draco would ever say things like “Oi” or “come off it.” It seems like the author just grabbed the most stereotypically British phrases the Weasleys often use and assumed a wealthy, aristocratic character like Pansy or Draco would say them—which is totally unrealistic. Also, Hermione saying things like “I will devote the entirety of my rather impressive brainpower” or calling herself “the brightest witch of her age” out loud just felt... off. Cringe, honestly. She would never say that herself! What I love most about Dramione is the slow burn, the tension, watching them fall in love. So starting off with them already in a secret Hogwarts relationship? Totally missed the mark for me. Then there were the Bridgerton-esque “Dear reader” or “this author knows” moments with Prophet columns written in full Lady Whistledown style.
The whole story was very repetitive. Every smut scene was the same, they start kissing, go down on each other, he goes in, she goes “over the edge” and he “follows her into the abyss”. This sentence was probably used at least 10 times. And don’t get me started on the dramatic “single tear rolls slowly down their cheek” lines, my favorite being when Pansy sheds one proud tear over Hermione telling off the trio.
The only reason I finished this (and it took me four months!) is because my brain simply can’t leave anything unfinished. This fic dragged me into the worst slump I’ve ever experienced. I'm honestly baffled by all the glowing recs I've seen for this one. AVO was, hands down, the worst Dramione fic I’ve ever read, and hopefully ever will read.
This was LOVELY. Oh my word, I am obsessed with the found family aspect of this book. Give me all of the Slytherin/Gryffindor relationships. 🥹
Who would’ve thought Narcissa & Pansy would become two of my favorite characters?!
I did have some issues with the way the story moved along at times & some of the writing was a little cringey, but I understand it’s a fanfic & didn’t go through the normal editing process.
I also wanted a little more tension between Draco & Hermione. A little too instalove for my liking.
And the last 20% dragged quite a bit.
But I still thoroughly enjoyed it & would recommend adding it to your never-ending Dramione list!
I was truly unprepared for how much I loved this one. It was truly beautiful and well written. I loved the flashbacks, the pace, and the overall character writing. I dont have a single complaint about this one. I feel in love with Hermione and Draco's story. I loved seeing the Slytherins take in Hermione and Narcissa. The spice was not lacking either. This is a truly beautiful piece of work.

6 🌟 even and it's a fanfic!!!! Draco Malfoy and Hermione are fictional. Malfoy is fiction but my god was this real ? Why I feel it was real ? This is beautifully written and I was hooked from the start. The Dynamics of Draco and Hermione are beyond this world. I was feeling every single emotion and devotion they have to each other. Please go and read it 💥
