I love Avatar so so so much ❤️

This is incredible and perfect for the crazy fans like me ! I admit that I read it during a rewatch (for the fortieth time) a while back and the experience of having all the information in a tiny book was so cool 🫶🏻

Avatar is a very complex universe and it can be really hard to keep up with all of it. This “manual” was extremely helpful with detailed descriptions and beautiful graphics.

First book of the year, en geen goed 😅

I know want ik heb de film gezien!

Jammer dat hij zo tegenviel, would not read again.

Avatar is a film many people – including myself – have on their favourites list. I hoped that this DK volume would be an in-depth guide the first book wasn't, but although it has much better illustrations, it doesn`t have any of the initial concept drawings or design plans artists and designers buy such books for.

It merely provides a series of stills from the movie and a listing of flora, fauna, hardware, characters and planet environments without any information on the actual process of arriving at their end design. It has a nice enough layout with box-out information texts, but all relating to the finished item within the context of the story – nothing about it's creation.

As it is, it's a decent enough reference guide for adults and children, but anyone curious about the how and why of the cinematic production process will find it lacking. I am a little disappointed in it.

As this is basically just an wiki page book about the world of avatar I’m not going to rate it. I learned some new things, some things I already knew, and some things were repeated multiple times in this book.

If you love avatar, and want to learn more about the world I would recommand.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 5/5 stars!!

i read the visual dictionary for TWOW and thought it was great and so it was only fair that I went back to read the visual exploration of the first movie. I’m happy to say I enjoyed this as much as the other visual dictonary.

These books are very helpful to those who either want to learn more about the world of Pandora or even simply recap on the world. Which was my case in this scenario, I’ve watched the first movie so many times that I’ve lost count 😅. This being said though I was still able to learn a few more details that I didn’t know 😗.

My rating might be a tad biased 🤏🏻 but I love the Avatar franchise, and what James Cameron has been able to do with this world is truly incredible to me 🥺💙. With the amount of work that has gone into this world and it’s books you forget that Pandora isn’t a real place. That’s how detailed this franchise is, and I love it! ✨😙

If you’re an Avatar fan and love learning as much as possible on Pandora then this is for you 🙏🏻. It fleshes out the plants, creatures RDA and the weapons and the characters. It’s definitely the definition of ‘the more you know.’ 💫🌈😂

Although a decent introductory overview exploring life and events on Pandora, I don’t think this book is at the graphical standard of other DK titles I’ve previously purchased. The page layout lacks appeal (it’s very angular like a 1990s design), and the selection of images varies greatly in quality, resulting in the placement of far too much artwork lacking contrast, clear colours and sharp details.

I do like the relatively short blocks of text that present enough information to be interesting while remaining concise, and despite the noted misgivings about its presentation, there’s plenty of written and visual content here to satisfy anyone wanting to learn more about the fascinating world of Avatar.

The book is okay, however for being a "Visual Exploration", there is no where near enough visuals. The text information isn't too in depth, but it was nice to get a few extra details such as the names of other Na'vi clans, flora and fauna that we haven't been able to see much of or at all. With that being said, I expected the text to be as brief as it is, but to also then be accompanied by a lot more photos. It is limited to one of each thing, maybe two if it is about avatars and their human counterparts. However, most of the photos are edited stills from the film, some are really not that great a quality.
Overall, its fine but I really expected a lot more from this book.

i want to love this book but mrs gates taught me better. the planets chemical makeup & atmospheric density do not align with the wildlife on the planet. what adaptations do wildlife have if the atmosphere is mainly NO2 and hydrogen sulfide? why are the na'vi tall and slender when the atmosphere is desner? realistically, their anatomy should be different to accommodate for the density because it just doesn't make sense. the floating islands? the atmosphere is too dense. similarly, none of the animals have any adaptations that trace back to the planet's chemical makeup. does the wildlife's cardiovascular systems adapt to be able to inhale no2 and perform cellular respiration?? do better🙄

If you love the James Cameron Avatar Universe, you will most likely love this. I liked the part where you read bit more about the other clans of Pandora and the more in-depth details about the RDA and their motivations. The creativity in the culture, the flora and fauna is amazing. One point of criticism: some of the movie stills used for this book were not of the best quality. Such a shame. I would have also liked more drawings of the fauna. A front, side and top view of the animals for example. Other than that is was a nice read and great to be back in the universe after my Avatar the Way of Water hangover 😜

P.S. please let them make a concept art book. Pleaseee
