This short little treatise on the Gettysburg battle was put together as a guide to the battlefield itself. At 72 pages and filled with photographs and maps, the reader can just peruse it for the guide value as they visit Gettysburg, or wallow in it to get more detail on battlefield positions and casualties. This is a nice pamphlet.
It's a good guide as far as written guides go, but we also purchased a wonderful audio guide that we found much more useful as we drove and walked around Gettysburg. We found we enjoyed this guide as a souvenir much more AFTER our visit. We were glad we also watched the film Gettysburg at home before our trip (starring Jeff Daniels.) Unfortunately all the photos are black and white.
