A fire department lieutenant falls for a Hollywood movie star who’s filming on-location. Their lives are incompatible and he’s lying to her big-time. Still…

Widowed Noah Keaton, one of the good guys, sends his four kids to vacation in California with his sisters twice a year. He’s more than glad for the break. He needs a breather in his personal life. His career as a firefighter lieutenant is going great but it’s the responsibility of his family that sometimes overwhelms him.

Chloe Logan is a famous movie star. She loves her job and her life in Hollywood. She knows something is missing, a good relationship with a man, but her job takes precedence. Then she meets Noah Keaton on a fire call to the set. Their attraction is immediate.

They both know their relationship is temporary because she’ll be leaving at the end of the summer. And Noah goes after his second chance at romance even though he’s keeping something from the fact that he’s the single dad of four little boys. But they can’t control their feelings.

Kathryn Shay is a lifelong writer. At fifteen, she penned her first 'romance,' a short story about a female newspaper reporter in New York City and her fight to make a name for herself in a world of male journalists - and with one hardheaded editor in particular. Looking back, Kathryn says she should have known then that writing was in her future. But as so often happens, fate sent her detouring down another path.

Fully intending to pursue her dream of big city lights and success in the literary world, Kathryn took every creative writing class available at the small private women's college she attended in upstate New York. Instead, other dreams took precedence. She met and subsequently married a wonderful guy who'd attended a neighboring school, then completed her practice teaching, a requirement for the education degree she never intended to use. But says Kathryn, "I fell in love with teaching the first day I was up in front of a class, and knew I was meant to do that."

Kathryn went on to build a successful career in the New York state school system, thoroughly enjoying her work with adolescents. But by the early 1990s, she'd again made room in her life for writing. It was then that she submitted her first manuscript to publishers and agents. Despite enduring two years of rejections, she persevered. And on a snowy December afternoon in 1994, Kathryn Shay sold her first book to Harlequin Superromance.

Since that first sale, Kathryn has written twenty-one books for Harlequin, nine mainstream contemporary romances for the Berkley Publishing Group, and two online novellas, which Berkley then published in traditional print format.

Kathryn has become known for her powerful characterizations - readers say they feel they know the people in her books - and her heart-wrenching, emotional writing (her favorite comments are that fans cried while reading her books or stayed up late to finish them). In testament to her skill, the author has won five RT BookClub Magazine Reviewers Choice Awards, three Holt Medallions, two Desert Quill Awards, the Golden Leaf Award, and several online accolades.

Even in light of her writing success, that initial love of teaching never wavered for Kathryn. She finished out her teaching career in 2004, retiring from the same school where her career began. These days, she lives in upstate New York with her husband and two children. "My life is very full," she reports, "but very happy. I consider myself fortunate to have been able to pursue and achieve my dreams."

I received a complimentary copy of this book and I am voluntarily reviewing it.

While this is a part of a series and the Brothers of Fire appear in all of the books, you don't have to read the prior one to fully understand and enjoy this book. I would highly recommend it though as it follows the first book and brings more understanding of the dynamic relationship of the men who serve as firefighters.

I adore how Ms. Shay writes in a multiple POV format. It just helps to weave the story together more cohesively.

Can a widower with 4 young children who fights fires for a living connect a beautiful Hollywood actress? Chloe is only in town for the summer to film her latest project. Noah is enjoying a rare time when his children visit his sisters in California. Chloe is attracted to the handsome firefighter. Noah is keeping a secret from Chloe. Can they overcome the logistics of her living on the opposite side of the country? How will she react when it is revealed that Noah is part of a package deal?

This story will just draw you in! It is hard to put down. It flows so well that before I knew it, it was over!!!! NO!!!! I really need to slow down when I read. I become so invested in the story that the pages just fly by and then when it is over, I'm depressed! It's like saying good-bye to some really great friends.

This is a sexy read but not overtly graphic in detail.

A*R*C for honest review with no compensation

The Rescue is book 2 in the Brothers of Fire series by Kathryn Shay and another well written addition to this series!

Noah Keaton, the fire department lieutenant, widower with four rambunctious boys meet a Hollywood actress who is in town making a movie who literally falls at his feet. Again they meet when there is a fire on the movie set…

What happens next is….secrets (Noah’s part), temporary relationship, something is missing in their lives, strong feelings and more…but can it all work out? Only time will tell…

Hot,hot, hot firefighters finding their soulmates- what's not to love!

Kathryn Shay's Brothers of Fire series is an ongoing saga about the loves and lives of a group of community firefighters , lieutenants, and captains who formed a support group for each other. The books follow a different member of the group. They are short novellas, so the story evolves quickly, and the action comes in short bursts. But the romance is slow and steady burn; which is just the way I like it! The books are best read in order as the characterization builds from one story to the other.

I read book one, All Fired Up, a month ago and was conflicted as my feelings about it. So, I filed it away in my memory as I went on to read book two, The Rescue. The main character, Lt. Noah Keaton and Hollywood's next "IT girl" Chloe Logan are unlikely partners. Noah is a widow with four boys under the age of 10. She is a talented actress with a career that is perched on the edge of greatness. But Kathryn Shay does an incredible job of developing both characters into three-dimensional people in a very short time! It was incredible! Chloe and Nolan explode off the pages as real individuals in no time at all. I found myself cheering Nolan on as he sought to experience once again what it was like to be a man in love with a beautiful woman. I could empathize with Chloe's desire to connect to a man who didn't have an agenda but simply showed her how a real man can worship a woman. It was a beautiful, poignant love story that had me smiling when it concluded into a happily ever after ending. A truly Hallmark moment.

I am glad I decided to reserve my opinion until I finished the second book! Kathryn Shay's Brothers of Fire series is heating up and promises to be an excellent companion to my morning tea!

Excellent Second Book!

In The Rescue, we dive into the emotional weeds with Lieutenant Noah Keaton, a sensitive, widowed father of four young boys and a proud member of the Brothers of Fire.
We met Noah in the first book and learned he lost his wife and is doing his best as a full-time firefighter, as well as a full-time dad. Sure, he has help, but does like to be as present as possible with his boys. Not necessarily looking for love, he meets a bona fide movie star in their small town in the cutest way possible.

I absolutely loved Noah. He was strong yet sensitive and wore his heart on his sleeve. Everybody knew what he was thinking because he told them. He didn’t hide from his feelings and like any other single dad, or married for that fact, enjoyed the two weeks when all four of his kids were at his sisters’ house. For those two weeks Noah could finally take care of himself a bit and this time, he found a little someone to help with that. Enter the beautiful movie star. Chloe was pretty down to earth for as high flatulent as she was supposed to be. She couldn’t resist the charms of a shy, yet sexy Noah and a friendship was quickly struck which parlayed into much, much more.

As the blurb says, Noah omits the fact that he’s got four kids to Chloe and of course, that’s where the drama lies. In the lie. However, there’s more going on for this quick couple if you can imagine.

The book is well written, and I’ve decided to look past the annoying insta-love knowing that Kathryn Shay only has so many pages to make this story work. All the other Brothers of Fire are present and accounted for, with the next book set up nicely. The Rescue can be read as a standalone, however is way more fun when read within the series.

On occasion, a group of firemen, all close friends, get together to vent about their problems, life, and concerns, calling themselves Brothers of Fire. One of these is Noah Keaton.
Noah is a widower with four rambunctious and wonderful kids. But he is grateful for a couple of weeks on his own while they go to the west coast to visit his sisters.
Chloe Logan is a well known actress whose latest movie is being filmed in town. When a fire occurs on location and Noah saves her, a connection is made. The chemistry is obvious and they decide to spend time together for the next couple of weeks with no strings attached. What Noah fails to mention his kids.
The lies of omission are brought to light and they break up, making each miserable. What happens when both realize feelings are intensifying? What happens when Chloe gets a surprise? Will she too lie by omission?
Once again, this author gives us characters that are perfect in their imperfections, just like us. Characters that are human and likable.
The story moved fast, with an engaging character and leaving this reader wanting to get her hands on the next story.
I was entrusted a copy of this book. The opinions expressed are solely my own.

Noah Keaton is a Crystal City firefighter, and Chloe Logan is a movie star. They meet a couple of times, and there is an instant attraction, but Noah is a widower with four little boys. He doesn’t see anything happening with Chloe because her life is so different from his. Initially, that is where he leaves things, but when friends meddle, circumstances begin to change. Regardless, his kids are away for a couple of weeks spending time with their aunts, and Noah pretends to be an unencumbered man. This sets the stage for a later confrontation…

This isn’t a long book, but there is a lot of intensity packed into it. This is the second book in the Brothers of Fire series written by Ms. Shay. These men face slightly different issues than the women faced in Shay’s Sisters of Fire series, but they are just as relevant to finding happiness with that special someone. A happy ending is guaranteed, as are some struggles and challenges that must be confronted. There’s a strong sense of community and caring support sprinkled throughout each of these stories, and that makes them extra enjoyable to read.

Firefighter Lieutenant Noah Keaton lost his wife, and is now raising his 4 tiny human boys as a single father. His life is chaotic so there's not a lot of time for him to just be & find love again. He's also a member of the Brothers of Fire, a group that has each other's back in every way possible. Noah is a great hero but of course has a flaw or two like any other human walking the earth and I LOVED HIM HARD! Chloe is a movie star whose career obviously takes precedence over finding love but when she & Noah come face to face on the set of her movie being shot in his neck of the woods, the sparks are flying like crazy. They decide to have a couple of weeks of fun with no strings as there's an expiration date on her time there, but he fails to tell her that he has kids (who are visiting his sister for a couple of weeks), and it does indeed cause some issues. Will these two get past that to work it out to be together?! Well you'll have to hit those one click buttons to find out! HIGHLY HIGHLY HIGHLY RECOMMEND!

The Rescue is the second book in the Brothers of Fire series and it didn’t disappoint. Noah Keaton has his hands full being a widower with four young children and he gets a short break twice a year when the kids go visit his sisters in California. Fate puts him in the path of Chloe Logan on a sidewalk while the kids are gone and again later that day when he is called in on a fire at the cabin where Chloe is in town filming a movie. These two on the surface couldn’t lead lives that are any more different but they are drawn together and begin spending every free moment together. However, Noah doesn’t want to lose this time so he doesn’t tell Chloe about the kids. Imagine her surprise when she walks into their rooms after spending the night at Noah’s! Blending these two lives isn’t impossible but requires trust and love. It was a great book and I can’t wait for the third book in the series!

I received a ARC of this book from the author. This is the 2nd in the Brothers of Fire series. All about Noah and the movie star he kept from taking a tumble on the sidewalk in the first book (All Fired Up).
Chloe, the movie star, is back in town to shoot a film. Noah and Chloe meet, by chance again, when there is a fire on the set of the film. Their attraction is almost immediate.

Noah is a firefighter, widower, and father of 4 young boys. His boys are on summer break and, like they do every year, his sisters in California have taken the boys for a few weeks to give him some alone time and a sanity break :).

This is Noah and Chloe's story and how a "lie of omission" could be their undoing.

This was a quick and enjoyable read. There isn't a lot of detail in the story; it is very character driven. A nice second installment in the Brothers of Fire series by Kathryn Shay.

This is the second book in this amazing series, and this is Noah and Chloe’s story. Noah is a windowed single dad with four boys, and he is a lieutenant in the fire department, and Chloe is a famous actress who loved her life and job, and she is in town for a brief time to shoot a movie. When there is a fire on the set Chloe meets Noah, and there is an instant intense attraction between them. Noah’s sister has taken the boys for a few weeks to give him a break, and he keeps that he is a single dad to himself. What will happen when Chloe learns the truth about the boys? This is a well written story which has family, friendships, intrigue, trust, romance, revelations, second chances, and love, which leads to an entertaining and compelling page turner.
I look forward to reading more from this talented author whose work I highly recommend.

Between his career as a firefighter and being a single father to his four children Noah is kept very busy. While his children are spending time with his sister, Chloe comes into his life and he doesn’t want to do anything that could derail the short time they have together so he isn’t upfront about what his life is really like.

Chloe enjoys her job as an actress but when she meets Noah she wonders if there is more to her life than her career. What was supposed to be a casual relationship becomes so much more but will it be strong enough to overcome what Noah hasn’t shared?

Although Noah and Chloe live opposite lives just being together fulfills them in a way that is unexpected. They do have some turmoil to overcome but they prove with love anything is possible.

The Rescue is book 2 in the Brothers of Fire series by Kathryn Shay and great addition to this series! This book is about Noah & Chloe. Noah is a widower with 4 boys, who gets a break when his sisters who lives in California takes them for two week. Chloe is a famous actress. When there's a fire on location that Chloe is on they meet again. The two of them share chemistry and feelings for one another, but the secret that Noah is hiding will it put an end to it??? When Chloe finds out she hurt that he didn't tell her and feels she can't trust him. Will they be able to move on from this? Will they be able to have they're happily after after.

Noah is the widower with four rambunctious boys.
Chloe is the movie star he kissed at the end of book one who is now in their little town shooting a movie.
Their attraction is immediate and deep but he has four boys and she's only here for a short time.
A brief fling turns into something so much more, but can Noah's ommissi9n derail them?
These are likeable characters, who even flawed, are ones you'd like for your friends. Their story does take a bit of an unexpected detour but it's one both are happy about and plan to see to the end.
Good installment. Like keeping up with the other brothers. Can't wait to see what happens with Tim and Ava.

Noah is a widower with 4 small boys and never really has any time for himself. So, when his sister takes the boys for a few weeks and he's given the chance to just be a man, he takes it. Chloe is a famous actress in town making a movie and they had a chance meeting once. When they run into each other again, they are drawn to each other and since he's without is boys, he takes advantage of the time. The two get closer and when she finds out about the kids, she's hurt he didn't tell her and doesn't trust him. There's a turn of events that makes her look at things a bit differently. Can they overcome this and be together? I received an ARC and am voluntarily leaving my review.

Noah is a widowed fireman of four little boys, he has a two week hiatus of the boys when he meets, actress Chloe. Chloe is filming on location for the summer when they meet. The chemistry that thye share is hot, perfect for a little fling but soon more feelings develop. Noah is keeping a big secret from Chloe and will they be able to move on once the secret is found out.

Love the bond that fellow firefighters have with their brotherhood, and how they can lean on to each other for that help. This is the second book in the series but can be read as a stand alone. Looking forward to the next book.

The Rescue is book 2 in the Brother’s of Fire Series and is a good story, has a well written, easy flowing plot and we get to know this group of firefighters a bit better. This author knows her subject very well and with each book has a new and fresh story about these very brave and close knit group. I thoroughly enjoyed Noah and Chloe’s story and even though the children were secondary characters, they were a great addition to the plot. I’m looking forward to book 3 and recommend Books 1 and 2 as well.

The Rescue is the second installment of the Brothers of Fire. Noah seems to have a challenging life being a firefighter and a single father to four young boys. He meets Chloe Logan a few weeks before being called to a fire at her work location. From that chance meeting the journey begins. Life is full of complications for both of them. Can they navigate through? Kathryn Shay provides a short and sweet story with a beautiful ending. It certainly left me wanting more of these characters. Highly recommend The Rescue.

I liked Noah when we met him in the first book of this series and my heart went out to him then, so I was happy to get to dig into his story. He's an amazing man that was dealt a sad hand, but his love for his boys is top notch. He had this great connection with Chloe from the start. These are strong, lovable characters that kept the pages turning. I loved the flow of their story, getting to visit with others in the series as well has me looking forward to more!

The Rescue
Kathryn Shay

A sweet romantic story with a touch of suspense.
Noah is a firefighter who meets Chloe, a Hollywood star, making a film in his town. They begin a relationship. A secret Noah keeps may derail it. Things happen which keeps you reading because you want to know there will be a happy ending. Add the suspense of someone attacking the firefighters and it just adds to the desire to read to the end. Will be reading more in the series.

Another great book in the Brothers of Fire series. This one is a lot a single dad Noah and a stranger he met on the street in the first book. You can’t help but just to fall in love with Noah. You will see how he runs into the stranger from the street that he couldn’t stop thinking about, but she couldn’t stop thinking about him! This book was so good that I was upset that I couldn’t finish it in one sitting!

A glimpse into the life of fireman lieutenant Noah, widowed with four boys.
A film being made near the station, in which a fire while filming he meets Chloe.
Secrets of his, and she was just given a big new contract, and the burst of a new love between them. A love for two weeks, could not be contained and something changed their choices. Enjoyable meeting them and readers will too.

This book brings back characters Noah and Chloe that we briefly met in Book 1 of this series. Chloe is an actress filming in Crystal City. An accidental fire during filming causes sparks to fly between Noah and Chloe. Since Noah’s four young sons are out of state visiting relatives, he is free to pursue a relationship with Chloe. Things are great until she finds out he didn’t tell her he has children. Of course, since this is a romance, they work things out in the end. This is a great story.

The Rescue is the second book in the Brothers of Fire series, following on the heels of The Sisters of Fire series. This book focuses on Noah and his love interest Chloe. The couple first meets when he assists her after a minor accident one day. The next time they meet, Noah rescues Chloe when a small fire breaks out on set. Will Noah and Chloe find their happily ever after or will the difference in their daily lives tear them apart? Enjoy getting to know the Brothers of Fire.

The Rescue is the second book in the Brothers of Fire series and it centers on Noah and Chloe. The characters are well developed and compassionate, caring people. Even though I am not a fan of deception, no matter how well intended, I totally understand it in Noah's case. This is a really good book and not one to be missed. It can be read as a stand alone but the reader would get more out of the story by following the series.

Noah Keaton, widower with four boys, meets movie star Chloe Logan and wants to be considered just a man and not a widow or father, so he keeps his kids a secret. Problem is secrets don't stay hidden. I really enjoyed this book and I can't wait for the next Brothers of Fire book. Great characters and story.

Every time I started to put the book down I was upset. I really wanted to know what was next. My only disappointment was no word on the crimes in the story. I would hang on to Noah in a heartbeat though and his cute boys.
