not as helpful or clear a guide as the other pruning book i'd just read. suggests thinning fruit to one fruit every 5 inches for pear trees.
(the other book was pruning basics by david squire)

I think this sort of book is better done as YouTube videos, with your specifics in mind. It covered much, but only thinly.

I liked this more than I thought I would. I read it mostly for the fruit tree and vine section, but I ended up reading the whole thing. It is a good overview with TONS of pictures which makes it easy to understand. I went away with helpful tips for a lot of the trees and shrubs I have growing in my yard.
I want something a little more in depth for fruiting trees, but overall it was a good reference for how, when and why you are pruning.
