This is the story of a valuable life lesson, to be thankful for what you have. The husband is a fisherman and releases a fish back into the water that can talk. At firt the fisherman does not believe he needs anything when the fish offers to grant a wish for him, until he goes home and his wife wants more and more. Great book for 1st grade as the level is equivalent and this may be a good starting point book to test them to see what level that are at.
