I opened the book thinking (knowing) it was basically a fad-diet book, but was pleasantly surprised when it turned out to be more about lifestyle choices and changes. While initially put off by the idea of discussing medications and surgical methods of weight management, the manner in which they were discussed made me realize that Fernstrom was actually providing some good information. I also liked all the information on behavioral issues with food, and the mantra, "there are no bad foods, just bad portions."

I like how realistic and non-crazy this is. It's also pretty validating since most of her basic concepts are things I already do.
