Despite the cover, I took a chance on this book. This is the fifth highland-themed book I have started in a row and the only one I have finished. This was good but not great. I liked it well enough to read the next one that I assume is the sequel.

This is an instance where I should take notes of things that for me detracted from a five-star rating. There were little things along the way, really, but the ending was probably the biggest star-rating detonator. So illogical.

Not to give a spoiler but

College student Kristianna Campbell has disturbing dreams about a Scotsman just prior to her planned visit to Scotland. At Castle MacGregor, Kristianna recognizes this man in the portrait of Iain MacGregor, laird of the MacGregor clan for a short time before he disappeared in 1604. On a visit to a small village, Kris spies an antique gold watch and touches it, immediately conjuring the image of Iain MacGregor, the watch’s owner. That night, examining the watch, she finds a small, hidden compartm ...more

I just finished this last night. Let me start by saying I enjoyed the overall story. However, there were some things that bothered me and I think it boiled down to bad editing. There were a number of places where there were extra words in sentences, like an extra "ye" in an awkward place. Really annoying was the multiple places where "where" was inserted in stead of "were". Then there were some lost threads. Like Kris stained her dress with glaze from the ham not wine as was later indicated. I w ...more

OK this was a highlander time travel book. Usually some of my very favorites. This book gave too much away in the beginning and made it very predictable for the ending. It was overall a nice story. Romance consisted of holding hands and kissing. Not your typical highlander romance as I am an expert by now. Needed better romance and more twists and turns to earn above a 3 from me.

FARFETCHED Time Romance

If you like very light stories about unbelieveable plots you'll like this one which is akin to a young girls summers dream about Scotland in the highlands and romance with the ladies.

After life took several detours, including a move to California at age eleven and a return to Massachusetts at age seventeen, a marriage, three children and a divorce, she revisited that dream in early 2000.
