You are cordially invited. . . . Don’t miss amateur detective Carnegie Kincaid, expert in all things matrimony and murder, in the Hallmark original movie Wedding Planner Mystery on Hallmark Movies & Mysteries!
On picturesque San Juan Island, love and lavender are in the air. So, unfortunately, are jealousy, pettiness . . . and murder. Wedding planner Carnegie Kincaid has come to the Puget Sound paradise to oversee her best friend’s wedding. But when her own mother announces her engagement to a local millionaire, Carnegie inherits more than two hostile about-to-be stepsisters and a new father she doesn’t quite trust.
Juggling cops and caterers, secret lovers and sullen in-laws, Carnegie finds a season of love in an idyllic setting turning into chaos. But when the millionaire’s key employee turns up dead and the local police—including one gorgeous blond hunk of a deputy—start breathing down her neck, can she stop a match made in heaven from becoming an invitation to murder?
Still very early 2000s in many ways but the writing is so entertaining and I never guess the who done it. Aaron and her should not get together it is so dramatic.......... that said I am sad that the next in the series is the last.
This was my favorite in the series. Carnegie is planning Lily’s wedding and things get a bit complicated when she discovers a dead man and the police immediately believe she is responsible. She’s also having problems with Aaron that may or may not be resolved by the end of the book.
The books are well-written and the heroine is fairly engaging. I think what's keeping me from liking this series is the heroine's romantic interest. Personally, I could never put up with a man who has the habit of pitching a hissy and walking off every time I say something he could construe as objectionable, yells at me on a regular basis and dismisses my opinions if they don't coincide with his. If it wasn't for Aaron Gold, I could really like this series.
This was a decent read. Nothing mind-blowing, but I read it for a challenge and it served its purpose. There wasn't too much action so I broke it up into chunks over several days. It just seemed unrealistic to me how incredibly randomly and unluckily the heroine stumbled on body after body. But alas, that's a cozy mystery for you. The characters were decent, the wedding premise was all right.
This book was a random grab at the library, and I wasn't impressed. The title grabbed my attention, but the book certianly didn't. I'm 6 chapters into it, and still not interested enough to continue. I hope that the author has better reception with her other books.
Looks like I read this one before, too. Carnegie's flaws are on obvious display in this book. Although she can be quite generous with coworkers and brides, she's often immature, selfish, and temperamental in her other relationships (especially with Aaron). And she's again making immediate assumptions about guilt with little if any real evidence. Lily nad Mike are wonderful. But I have serious reservations about Carnegie and Aaron. He's coming along after recent events, but she's still got a long way to go.
Wedding planner Carnegie Kincaid goes to the San Juan Islands to oversee her best friend's wedding and to spend time with her mother, who has just become engaged to a local millionaire, and finds herself caught up in a murder investigation. Silly.
YOU MAY KILL THE BRIDE was a very serendipitous find for me. Looking for a mystery title that started with Y for a reading challenge I stumbled upon it as I googled around the web looking for suitable titles. The 5th book in the ‘Wedding planner’ series YOU MAY KILL THE BRIDE was a very entertaining whodunit. Carnegie is a very witty, but not a stupid, amateur sleuth who becomes the prime suspect when she is discovered crouched over the first body. This does not improve when she is found holding the murder weapon next to the second body! There are plenty of laughs and twists and turns as Carnegie splits her time between proving her innocence, sorting out her personal life and planning the best wedding ever. She is supported by a typical cast of idiosyncratic island characters, some loveable and some outright creepy, and though you know you are going to have these characters it is lovely to see how they turn out. Even though I hadn’t read the previous 4 books in the series I had no problems picking up the relationships between the Carnegie and her immediate circle of friends and family. As far as I am aware there were no spoilers to the outcomes of the previous books. Very enjoyable read.
Quite a fun read; I'm really enjoying all these amateur detective novels featuring sassy wedding planners! Particularly when they have a little romance of their own, as well (though Aaron is a bit of a disappointment in this one, for a first time reader of the Carnegie Kincaid series). Probably the most interesting about this story was watching the way it all played out in the end, and seeing how the characters fit in.
IT is a fun book to read. you like mysteries and whodunits? it's a book for you. A fast read and very interesting. Revolving around marriages and touching the deeper subject of racism, its a book on friendship and love and trust. It's a little baffling how the protagonist, in the midst of the picturesque San Juan islands can find so many bodies, but it is gratifyingly fast paced and action filled. you should read it if you like amateur sleuthing and weddings thrown in together.
It is fortunate that a good friend gave me this whole series, because I am addicted to these books and just can't stop reading. I just finished #5 and loved it, but now I am sad because there is only one more left to go. The series is well-written, well-plotted, and the characters are great. These definitely come under the category of a good-read!
I'd read the first two in this series when they first came out and somehow never read the rest of them. This was a good read and it was nice to catch up with the characters again after such a long stretch. I guessed the killer midway through, but I still enjoyed the read.
I bought this book almost 5 years ago, but only recently had the interest to read it. Although a work that I will probably forget about in a few years, it’s still a fast-paced mystery that you can take on a vacation.
This series continues to be a great read!!!! The continuity of characters (with occasional suprise behaviors) and the introduction of new characters adds to great story lines and adventure! Once again, a cliff-hanger ending; making me look forward to the next edition!!
