Good book on urban missiology. I don't recommend it for everyone. I suggest reading Grigg's Companion to the Poor and other books to give significant background on urban ministry before reading this one. It reads very much like a text book, so it took me quite a while to finish it. The first half is more sociology and the second half is very practical and strategic. If you're considering urban ministry internationally, I highly recommend it. For domestic, I recommend Restoring At-Risk Communities by John M. Perkins.
I liked this better than his first book, because it was a little easier to follow and it got a lot more into general situations. In some ways it reads like a handbook for doing ministry among the urban poor in the world - while I may not agree with everything he says, I think I'll want to read it over carefully again if I am ever spearheading my own such ministry.
