2.5 stars - firmly in the valley of mediocrity!!

Much better than the first volume! Still had some nagging issues though. I'm really happy with the amount of spirits/monsters and the formation of the all-girl defense committee was excellent (not just because I like seeing girls as fighters/heroes, I'm glad it's not being used as an excuse to turn this into a harem manga). What bugged me was the way certain things seemed oddly rushed, like relationships between characters. It makes me feel like there are chunks of story missing. I'm also put off by inconsistent, changing proportions in the character anatomy, especially in arm/leg length. Sometimes adult characters look like children or sometimes characters are drawn with arms way too long or legs way too short. If the characters were consistently drawn with odd proportions, I'd be more accepting, chalking it up to stylistic choice, but since it's totally random and jarring, I can only feel the art is amateurish.

The art leaves much to be desired - in fact, sometimes it's downright confusing - but the story is quite interesting.
