SUDDENLY SHE WAS ENGAGED TO A TEMPTING STRANGER....
The papers announced Lady Damara's engagement to Simon Alton, Marquess of Emsley--but the lady herself had never heard of him! So the spitfire redhead rushed to London to correct the mistake.
Once in town, Damara found her boldly handsome "fiance" equally ignorant of the cause of the engagement announcement. Yet he obviously enjoyed playing along with the embarrassing ruse. Was he really courting her... or simply teasing her? Damara vowed not to risk her heart despite the man's considerable charms. But she was about to learn that in love's gambit, winner takes all!

This is actually a re~read and it still manages to Entertain. I just love the deviousness of Jasper's prank to his sister which he conveniently forgot in that precious and fun gem of a Prologue which started this rollicking good fun ride into Regency England's timeline. Well~written, with that prologue alone that has lived up to its promise. We need authors of this caliber since most of the pioneers if this genre have left this "mortal coil" or are resting on their laurels or doing something else... someone has to pick up the torch. Ms. Eagle is one.
