Written in graphic-novel format.
I’m an award-winning author, educator and literacy advocate. I have created over 35 graphic novels and books specifically for reluctant readers, including Max Finder Mystery, Graphic Guide Adventures, Geeked Out Mysteries and two new series Tank & Fizz and Battle of the Blocks.
Good for basic intro. Would have liked a clearer understanding of volts, amps and watts included. This book in the series does not include an experiment.
Max Axiom presents basic information about electricity in this comic. The information is provided in four chapters that explain what electricity is, describe how electricity is made, discuss electricity on the move, and more. Diagrams explain concepts, and there are inserts of definitions, safety tips, etc. There is also a glossary with kid-friendly definitions. I wish I knew about this comic in my 8th grade science year... There was a lot of cool information that I still remembered and the new information that I learned from the book was really interesting. This book is excellent for middle schoolers, and is a very fun way to learn. I would definitely recommend this book doing a science project about electricity, or do any child who is interested in the topic. I'm 15 and I found this book entertaining.. so that's saying something.
This is a great kids book- it would work for upper elementary, but my preschooler enjoyed it and wanted me to read it again as soon as we finished it. There's a lot of books in this series, I'm hoping to find them in the library soon.
A great way to explain all things pertaining to electricity. Including: how it is created, transferred, the dangers, and how and why we should conserve our usage of it.
For my Graphic novel book I chose The Shocking World of Electricity with Max Axiom, Super Scientist. I would recommend this book for fifth graders, because it uses bigger more challenging words. Their are no content concerns, and everything in this book is educational. Max Axiom the super scientist travels around and shows where electricity comes from.
