This is the definitive guide to rock bands, detailing every significant artist, from AC/DC to ZZ Top, The Beatles to Smashing Pumpkins. Beginning with the founders of the genre in the 40’s and 50’s, to exciting new wave groups and the groups that have reinvented and defined music for generations. This comprehensive line up features artists from all sub-categories; grunge, punk rock, metal, classic rock and everything in between. This guide shows in pictures and words how rock bands have become some of the most influential icons of modern society and have continued to evolve and progress over the past 50 years.
This is a coffee table-type book of some random person's 500 top rock bands. The descriptions are irregular (some give you where the band is from, the members, their best works, etc, but some just have a brief, uninteresting description). It's unclear what 'rock' means - basically anything? The worst part about this book is that it is very poorly edited. There were many bands whose names were misspelled! And yet they'd be spelled correctly in the description. I suspect the information might not have been right either. I liked the occasional quotes, except that some were unattributed. I wouldn't recommend this, not even as a gift for a big music fan.
its a good book to read but i didn't agree with the numbering of the rock bands and they were lots of rock band i didn't even know. they has little about the band and the history but i still think it could be better.
