One of 3 books I received in my lucky-dip purchase from the bookstore next to The Bluecoat in Liverpool. The 12 short stories were rather dark and gloomy. Does it represent the Scottish psyche? If so that's a little worrying. Two of the short stories were by Sir Walter Scott and were quite good. Lovely language in the second one. The first of his had some extremely difficult Scottish which I struggled to read. But it was fun.
