A short-story collection by the author of "When I Lived Down Cuckoo Lane," Amy at the Bakery follows a year in the life of seven-year-old Amy and her family's bakery. While Baby Roy grows into a toddler, Amy makes a new friend at school, and visits London for the first time
This is a cozy, charming collection of stories about a seven-year-old English girl whose family runs a bakery. The stories take place over the course of a year. The book is episodic with no real plot, which didn't bother me until the very end when the last story seemed anti-climactic (not just as the end of a book, but also within itself). My daughter liked it, even though it was below her reading level.
