REVIEW: This is my first read from this author, but it won't be my last. I will also be finishing this series. This book was a very good combination of historical romance with a bit of suspense thrown in. I really liked the premise of the story with the focus on a carousel builder. The characters of Ellie, Bascom and Priscilla enjoyable and the slowly budding romance between Ellie and Bascom sweet. The added suspense made the plot interesting and led to a book that was a quick, easy read.
FAVORITE QUOTES: "Back then, time had seemed to stand still and he had everything to look forward to in his future. He worked hard and spent too much time away from his loved ones, know they always had tomorrow. But he'd been wrong. Their tomorrows had run out, and all he had left were empty dreams he would never live to see."
"There's bad in the world, no matter where you live."
I'm sure this book was on my shelf because I once lived near the Great Salt Lake and the setting was familiar. I enjoyed the book. It was a quick read.
A short book at 170 pages, it was set In Salt Lake City, Utah so worked for a state challenge I am working on. The year is 1895 and Ellie's late grandfather just spent all his money on a carousel for his Salt Lake resort. Will Ellie trust the man who comes to build it enough to end up marrying him? There is a small mystery, as someone is trying to cause trouble at several resorts, including Ellie's. Who could be the culprit?
This book was wonderful. The story is based on a resort owner and a builder of carousels. I thoroughly enjoyed it and will miss reading about Ellie and Bascom. This is one I will definitely want to read again.
