This was a YA paranormal story, featuring werewolves and vampires.

Daisy was an okay character in this, although she did like to put herself in dangerous situations without considering the risk.

The storyline in this was about relations between the shifters and vampires, with people on both sides being attacked. Daisy tied to work out who the attackers were, whilst at the same time working on breaking the curse on the jukebox from the previous books. The pace in this was really slow though, and th

In a word, this book was abbreviated. It's like having a bored teenager tell you a story as quickly as possible, and the only two things that interest that teenager are food and clothes. The books reads like: skim skip skim extreme detail of everyone's clothing skim skip skim intricate detail of food preparation. Near the end of the book, I was suprised to discover that the main character is tall. In fact, I really didn't know what anyone looked like nor most of the places they went. The story i ...more

This is the big finale to Daisy's story and it's grand, for sure. Daisy is in her last semester in High School and she is anxiously waiting for her acceptance letters but nothing seems to show up. In the mean time, her boyfriend, Ryan, is thinking of leaving Nightshade for college. Also, a huge fight between werewolves and vampires is about to start. Both sides have so casualties but Daisy is beginning to believe that the attacks are not by paranormal but by the Sourge, the organizati

This is such a cute little series. I've really enjoyed reading all the books. In 'Dead is Not An Option', Daisy the detective is on the trail once again to solve the mysteries of Nightshade, while also getting ready for graduation and college.

I really enjoyed reading this book. It was a quick, easy read. It was also the perfect ending for the series. There were quite a few twists that I didn't see coming. Quite a few funny moments also. I enjoyed watching the characters grow over this series, an

Sometimes it's just nice to sink into a quick, sweet book. The 'Dead' series is perfect for that. 'Dead is Not An Option' is the 5th book in the series about a supernatural girl, Daisy, living in the supernatural tow of Nightshade.

Daisy anxiously awaits the arrival of her college acceptance letters while doing all those traditional senior things like prom, graduation parties, and worrying if her boyfriend will forget her when he goes off to college. And, the mystery of Lily and Bathazar's entra

The town of Nightshade is like no other - populated by paranormals such as vampires, werewolves, psychics, and ghosts as well as humans. Mostly, the citizens get along, and for more than 50 years a truce has been formed between the Weres and the Vamps and has held up. However, the Scourge seek to rid the town of all paranormals and are up to their old tricks.

Graduation is about all Daisy can think about; friends are going through all their “lasts” this senior year, Ryan isn’t quite telling her the truth, and she still hasn’t heard back from UC Nightshade about her admissions. I thought Perez did a wonderful job capturing how it feels to be moving from one stage of your life to the next; just because this is a “special” community doesn’t make Daisy and her friends any less human, and college and life are scary – and she wrote that well.

But that’s no
Daisy Giordano is ready to graduate high school, but several issues interfere with the joyous time. Without any of her college acceptance letters arriving, Daisy starts to get nervous about her future plans. However, a distraction shows up. A war is starting between the vampires and the shifters, but the reasons for the conflicts don’t sit well with Daisy. Plus, the war is spilling into the Giordano home, since Rose and Daisy are dating shifters, while Poppy is dating a vampire. Daisy sets out t ...more

Recommends it for: Read if you love...Forgive My Fins, Beastly, Nancy Drew series
This is my first foray into the series and, as with series that I enjoy you don't have to read the other books to get what's going on, but I definitely am going to after this one. I've been wanting to read the series for a long time and own two others already, so when I saw that I could get this one as a review at Netgalley, I jumped at the chance.
If you are looking for a book that's adult and in-depth than this series is not for you, however, this book beats the Twilight series any day. It's
I absolutely love this series and jumped at the chance to read it. I was expecting tonnes of mystery and excitement, in this, the final book in the Dead is series. I was not disappointed that’s for sure.
Dead is not an Option was just as good as the other books in the series and for that I’m glad. I love how the mysteries are always there and I can usually guess what’s going on about halfway into the story. I could do that with Dead is not an Option as well but there were still some surprises.

3. Dead is So Last Year
4. Dead is Just a Rumor

My thoughts:
Although this book easily stands alone, I would suggest reading the whole series - in order. I enjoyed the story, but there were some references to previous happenings that left me feeling, not that I was lost but that I wished I had read the first four books before this one.

The characters are wonderful! I have to say that Lil (the jukebox) is my

This is the first of this series that I have read. I received a copy of this from the publisher, and I can not wait to get the four books that proceeded it! I am very curious about many things, such as where the Scourge (I think of them as the monsters who hide in your closet) came from, and the story behind Slim (Mr. Invisibility). I wish there was a bit more description about some of these fun characters (and a bit less with the kissing).

But, I really enjoyed reading this story. There is actio

Something is happening in Nightshade. Well, when is something NOT happening in Nightshade? Daisy is at the forefront to solve the mystery of why the shifters and vampires are attacking each other.

I enjoyed this book. It was fun, and even had me guessing at what was really going on! One of my biggest complaints about this series is the repetitiveness of the books. Example-Daisy will explain that her boyfriend is always hungry because he is a werewolf. Okay, well, Daisy just told us this 10 pages

I'm really hoping this is the last book. It's not that they're bad books; I'm just tired of the series. It was getting a little bit too Nancy Drew-ish. (Have you ever noticed that all of the Nancy Drew mysteries involve cookies or lemonade?) I was a bit off-put that the characters were able to come home from school, bake a bunch of cookies or a frosted cake, then head off to some meeting. I realize teenagers have a lot of energy (and they eat a lot, too!) but I was seriously doubting the timing. ...more

This was another book in the series that I wasn't a huge fan of, but it wasn't awful.

The characters irritated me, so I can't say I liked them.

This dragged quite badly in areas for me, and it just couldn't keep my interest very well at all. This one felt pretty long too.

Overall, Not the best one in the series.

It was good but not as good as the others considering the fact that her story is now ending and it's time for another one to start as main character in the newer books. I'm not so sure how I feel about that.

While BAM and Lil's reunion was touching, this book felt a little light plot-wise compared to the earlier books in the series. I wanted a little more set-up of Ryan's dad being in danger.

After tangling with four criminal plots in the past twenty-four months, Daisy Giordano has finally made it to the spring of her senior year in high school. And because Daisy lives in Nightshade, California, that's more of an accomplishment than you might think. Founded as a sanctuary 200 years ago, Nightshade is a haven for shape-shifters, vampires, mermaids, witches and assorted other paranormal beings. Not everyone who lives in Nightshade knows about this secret community, but Daisy, her mothe ...more

This book started and progressed a bit slow. It was nice to see the characters enjoying themselves and worrying more about high school things though. Towards the end, all the action started happening and so many plot twists happened and hidden secrets were revealed. Things I didn’t even see coming.

I enjoyed this series and recommend it for a light, quick read.
