This rating is for the edition adapted by Kay Brown and illustrated by Gerry Embleton. Sadly this retelling is disjointed as the text and illustrations are not well synced leaving me to think there was no collaboration between writer and artist. The text flowed but was completely sanitised of all the dark content which is generally not to my liking. The only reason I am giving this 4 stars is due to the illustrations which I really liked. I thought the art was very interesting, ornate and pretty. ***for text. *****for illustrations. Overall 4****.

A very different versions to the ones I've read before - instead of three apples, the witch uses three different enchanted items (including the classic apple, but I digress) as a means of offing Snow White. And the illustrations are stunning.
