If I had to sum up this graphic novel in one word, it would be "fun."
The stories here are set between the fifth and sixth Star Trek films. The crew of the USS Enterprise (NCC-1701A, to be specific, and incidentally, the ship's started to come into her own), go around the galaxy doing, well, stuff. I say "stuff," because let's just say Kirk's not exactly a by the books officer.
I arguably benefitted reading this after reading a previous TNG graphic novel. It isn't just that Kirk is a different officer from Picard, it's the eras as well, with this one being a lot more rough, tumble, and in some cases, outright bonkers. There was one moment that had me laugh out loud, and for those of you who've read it, it would be Kirk's "there is a God" moment.
The stories here arguably don't have a strong throughline, but the individual stories are fun in of themselves, I didn't mind. So like I said, "fun."

An exciting comic collection from Titan Books, Star Trek: Death Before Dishonor is full of thrills. Featuring the first 6 issues of DC’s rebooted Star Trek series, the comics pick up shortly after the events of Star Trek V as the crew assembles for the re-launch of the USS Enterprise-A as it embarks on a mission to escort a Federation ambassador to negotiate peace talks on a warring planet; meanwhile the Klingon ambassador puts a bounty on Kirk’s head. The storytelling is pretty good and the artwork does an impressive job at carrying on the cinematic vision of the films. Additionally, the layout of the panels is especially creative and dynamic (more so than in any previous Star Trek comic series), and brings a lot of energy and intensity to the book. Star Trek: Death Before Dishonor is an entertaining read that continues the adventures of Captain Kirk and his crew.
