Kentarou Miura (三浦建太郎) was born in Chiba City, Chiba Prefecture, Japan, in 1966. He is left-handed. In 1976, at the early age of 10, Miura made his first Manga, entitled "Miuranger", that was published for his classmates in a school publication; the manga ended up spanning 40 volumes. In 1977, Miura created his second manga called Ken e no michi (剣への道 The Way to the Sword), using Indian ink for the first time. When he was in middle school in 1979, Miura's drawing techniques improved greatly as he started using professional drawing techniques. His first dōjinshi was published, with the help of friends, in a magazine in 1982.

That same year, in 1982, Miura enrolled in an artistic curriculum in high school, where he and his classmates started publishing their works in school booklets, as well as having his first dōjinshi published in a fan-produced magazine. In 1985, Miura applied for the entrance examination of an art college in Nihon University. He submitted Futanabi for examination and was granted admission. This project was later nominated Best New Author work in Weekly Shōnen Magazine. Another Miura manga Noa was published in Weekly Shōnen Magazine the very same year. Due to a disagreement with one of the editors, the manga was stalled and eventually dropped altogether. This is approximately where Miura's career hit a slump.

In 1988, Miura bounced back with a 48-page manga known as Berserk Prototype, as an introduction to the current Berserk fantasy world. It went on to win Miura a prize from the Comi Manga School. In 1989, after receiving a doctorate degree, Kentarou started a project titled King of Wolves (王狼, ōrō?) based on a script by Buronson, writer of Hokuto no Ken. It was published in the monthly Japanese Animal House magazine in issues 5 and 7 of that year.

In 1990, a sequel is made to Ourou entitled Ourou Den (王狼伝 ōrō den, The Legend of the Wolf King) that was published as a prequel to the original in Young Animal Magazine. In the same year, the 10th issue of Animal House witnesses the first volume of the solo project Berserk was released with a relatively limited success. Miura again collaborated with Buronson on manga titled Japan, that was published in Young Animal House from the 1st issue to the 8th of 1992, and was later released as a stand-alone tankōbon. Miura's fame grew after Berserk was serialized in Young Animal in 1992 with the release of "The Golden Age" story arc and the huge success of his masterpiece made of him one of the most prominent contemporary mangakas. At this time Miura dedicates himself solely to be working on Berserk. He has indicated, however, that he intends to publish more manga in the future.

In 1997, Miura supervised the production of 25 anime episodes of Berserk that aired in the same year on NTV. Various art books and supplemental materials by Miura based on Berserk are also released. In 1999, Miura made minor contributions to the Dreamcast video game Sword of the Berserk: Guts' Rage. 2004 saw the release of yet another video game adaptation entitled Berserk Millennium Falcon Arc: Chapter of the Record of the Holy Demon War.

Since that time, the Berserk manga has spanned 34 tankōbon with no end in sight. The series has also spawned a whole host of merchandise, both official and fan-made, ranging from statues, action figures to key rings, video games, and a trading card game. In 2002, Kentarou Miura received the second place in the Osamu Tezuka Culture Award of Excellence for Berserk.[1]

Miura provided the design for the Vocaloid Kamui Gakupo, whose voice is taken from the Japanese singer and actor, Gackt.

Miura passed away on May 6, 2021 at 2:48 p.m. due to acute aortic dissection.

This Volume was amazing full of Events.
Guts and Zodd fought together to bring down Ganishka.
And if you think this is the best thing that is going to happen in this Volume, You are sorely mistaken.
Griffith comes with a small army, and manages to push through to Ganishka, and tells him that they better take this fight elsewhere
You gotta feel for Ganishka really, he is like Humans when they are fighting their Fates, IT IS GOING TO HAPPEN NO WAY AROUND IT. (2023 update : Cute when i used to believe in fate)
But he is trying to fight just like me in a way, i am rooting for Ganishka because he went against the flow, but it seems he will be getting nowhere just like me fuck it...
The whole team is riding the warship, to the safe-haven of elf kingdom.
Azan is acting like he is someone else, because he got kicked out of the holy see, its pretty funny lol I mean everyone can notice him from the first look, the least he could do was use a different weapon, and remove the mustache on his Helmet lol
Farnese finally finishes the basic imagining, and actually goes to the basic acts of magic, when she goes into Astral form who is Doctor Strange now?

did I really just see Guts riding on Zodd’s back, swinging his huge sword against the demon emperor AND Zodd going along with that??? HOLY SHIT that’s one of the most epic scenes in the series so far. I’m so proud of Guts for finally learning to set his priorities straight and pick his battles. what a king.
btw, speaking of kings and kingdoms....buckle up, Midland, Griffith is here and he’s got y’all in the palm of his hand. 💅🏻

All the nations of the Holy See are gathered at the port city of Vritannis where Guts and co are trying to leave on a ship. Now it's being invaded by the Kushan empire.

Guts ends up teaming up with Zodd, as prophesied by Nunes, to fight the Apostle form of the Kushan emperor Fanishka.

This is such a cool volume because the Kushan empire besieges Vritannis with their enormous army and huge elephants. Griffith comes out and saves the day and declares himself ruler of the army, fiance of Charlotte, and blessed by the Pontiff. All the pieces of his game plan are coming together.

Kentaro Miura draws his best in this volume, some pages featuring hundreds if not thousands of small figures.

This is mostly a Griffith volume. The final chapter or so we see Guts and co on a huge war ship captained by Farnese's new fiance. She's learning more magic including astral projection.

There's a great opening here with Guts and Zodd teaming up, but there's also way too much time wasted on Griffith's god-modding over the realm. I still think much of it could have been skipped.

Nouveaux horizons

A plethora of cool moments make this volume. Guts and Zodd teaming up, Griffith consolidating power, and Serpico keeping Guts focused on what matters. Great stuff.

This is the 32nd volume in the Berserk series. In this volume Guts and Zodd form an unlikely alliance in order to defeat the apostle that is the Kushan Emperor; they are finally able to board the ship and leave Vritannis.

Meanwhile the Kushen forces set upon the Holy See Knights. Just as the Knights are about to be defeated the Band of the Hawk (lead by Griffith) rushes in to save the day. We find out Griffith and Princess Charlotte are betrothed and Griffith is proclaimed the Hawk of LIght buy His Holiness.
Then we go back to the ship with Guts and crew. Lady Farsand is receiving more magic lessons from Schrieke on how to project her body into the astral plane.

Illustration continues to be well done. I don’t like the Berserk volumes that spend the majority of their time on the Kushan/Midland war as much as those that focus on Guts and the adventure he is going on. I feel like things are getting a bit too drawn out here and that the story isn’t moving forward as quickly as it was in previous volumes.

Overall this was another good installment in the Berserk series. Things are moving a bit slower these last couple volumes and I am curious to see where the story is heads. I would recommend this whole series to those who enjoy action-packed fantasy-horror manga.

The last 2/3 volumes have been a bit disappointing, but it all picks up again in volume 32. The story is riveting, there’s action, emotion, and some utterly amazing artwork.

Guts and Zodd were working together, albeit briefly, whoa.
Kushan invasion? I still don't care about it, but as soon as Griffith showed up, I've become invested. Griffith has pulled a very clever scheme. I like him and I like his presence in the story. My only wish is for him and Guts to never cross paths.
The final chapter was lovely. I love seeing Farnese's growth.

Guts riding Zodd and them teaming up together ... never thought that would happen but yes it was the most iconic and epic thing ever.

And Griffith is back being the master manipulator he is and literally has everyone in the palm of his hands. I'm scared to see what he does with that because he has too much power, and he is too evil of a person to have that much power.

Love the fallout from last volume. While it is good I fear the Griffith chapters getting longer and more frequent but it is purposeful to build towards a conclusion.

And Farnese takes her first real step with magic!

Love this series.

wondering a bit if farnese’s progression with magic is a bit rushed/underdeveloped but either way the imagery is gorgeous, whenever griffith is on the page you can just feel what his supporters feel he is such a presence n extremely captivating

I know I look biased for giving every single one of these books 5 stars but dude, if you gave it a try you’d be giving 5 stars too. Berserk is one of the best things I’ve ever experienced. Like ever.

This was another volume of mostly fighting, which was disappointing. I enjoyed the stuff with Griffith gaining everyone’s trust, though.

Other than the gore scenes which were completely unnecessary and crude this volume was great.
I really enjoyed reading the political drama aspect of Griffith's side of the story lthough I wish he didn't easily defeat the Emperor's army.
The Emperor is supposed to be this undefeatable entity so him falling to his knees in fear of Griffith was disappointed and frankly gave me second hand embarrassment.
It's a wonderful sight to see Guts start to open up to others again and even be kind to them!
His relationship with Schierke so far is somewhat wholesome and sweet.
Before Schierke and Isidro joined the party the only positive point of the group were Puck's cuteness and comedic relief but ever since the party grew Guts has started to open up to others, rely on their help and appreciate them.
Of course part of the reason he became a more reliable and less of a cold person is because of Rickert and Erica as well as Puck but I believe
Schierke helped with his current development as well as the character growth that Franess has obtained.
Who would have guessed that Guts current predicament with Casca and his newfound ragtag group would inspire Franess to become stronger and completely change from her previous persona.
I don't believe her previous actions can be completely forgotten however I like that Guts had influenced her(indirectly)into being more independent and learning to self defense and magic to assist the group.
Serpico is starting to warm up to Guts after being distrustful of him prior to this arc.
I'm curious about the backstory of Isidro.
He seems to be an orphan but he could be a runaway as well.
I look forward to seeing him train more with Guts to become a great swordsman as well as Rickert becoming a highly skilled engineer and blacksmith that regularly creates and designs weapons for Guts.

Desde hace ya varios tomos, siento que el protagonista (Guts) esta desbordado sentimentalmente, es como si fuese un alma en pena y lucha porque es lo único que estuvo haciendo toda su vida.
Obra maestra donde se encuentren.

!! so this is easily my favorite of the later arc endings. The art in this one absolute blew me away (always a massive sucker for how Miura draws massed combat action) and there was so much plot development. Audibly gasped over several pages.
